Depends what you mean by EP's. If you mean a 4 or 5 track EP that would qualify as a single like say, "Watery Domestic" then no. If you mean a larger EP/mini-album like Come on Pilgrim then yes. Anything over 25 mins and most things over twenty if they have more than four tracks should be fine.

Not that's it up to me, I'm just saying.

see the only problem i have with this is the fact that Watery, Domestic might be one of the best records ever released. if i even vote, it will be in my top 5.

I'll be curious whether they'll be any significantly different entries worth examining beyond these.

Sure there will--the board's composition has changed somewhat + many new albums released + some enhanced recency effect (a la 2008 EOY) that will eclipse some of the lesser/marginal selections from 2003-4.

I'm basically fucked when it comes to making this list.

If it'll help, I'll post mine from 2004 lol.

Maybe I'll try this.

I think it's going to be too hard to do this for me.

There's no way that I can have 16 Lovers Lane but not Liberty Belle & the Diamond Express. How do I include Station to Station but tell Scary Monsters or Hunky Dory to fuck off? Dilemmas, I tells ya!

Feel free to post lists that are longer than 100 albums. It's just that I'm only assigning points up to #100.

See, I don't believe in this. If you rate Neu! 75 as the #3 album of all time, surely the first two Neu! albums--which are very similar--rate above a lot of the rest of your list. My list may end up being "boring" with the same handful of artists, but that handful is head and shoulders above almost anything else, especially if the quality of their output is consistently high.

That said, great list, FC.

I didn't like doing it. If I hadn't, though, the Beatles, Stones, Can, VU, Roxy Music, T.Rex and Bowie would probably account for 75% of my list. I'm the kind of listener who consistently goes back to what he loves and doesn't seem to tire of any of it. I only did my list this way out of preference and can perfectly understand why you wouldn't want to.

James Iha's list is godly as expected. Not anywhere close to 'canon' (as he admitted) but I'll be damned if that isn't a fine list of 100 very very fine albums.

and if nobody says that, then half the somb's top 10 is going to be beatles albums.

not that they don't deserve it. i love the beatles, don't get me wrong. they're amazing, man, they're the fuckin beatles. the first few paragraphs here sum it up for me though:

http://www.pitchfork...red-and-remixed

thats just how i feel about their work i suppose. there's the beatles' recorded output and then theres other music. and it's not like i am leaving off the beatles to be dishonest w/ my tastes, i just don't think of them in the same way critically as the countless other LPs whose greatness i try to evaluate.

although on another day of the week i might have a beatles album in there. probably 'revolver' in the top 40 or so. not today, though, sorry.

I don't like the Beatles enough to vote for them so kill me I don't own 1 Beatles album and never plan too. I was subjected to them on classic rock for 15 fucking years 5 days a week etc yes they have some great songs, songs that I never need to hear again save a few like In My Life why is this so crazy to people I know people who don't like the Who or Zeppelin or Floyd etc but god forbid someone not like the Beatles fucking joke No list is worthless either even if someone voted for 10 albums and it was nothing but Pavement and Sonic Youth it would still be valid as it is "THEIR" opinion

That's just psychotic. And even the psycho who shot Lennon 'liked' the Beatles.

But yeah, seriously, there's got to be at least a dozen anti-Beatles sites out there - nothing that bad, but it's pretty amusing to see visitors get angry at those sites.
