Awesome job with the countdown and especially with the teasers (and I'm saying this as someone who's teaser process involves a google search of the song title plus "lyrics").

By the way, Paul: Film Blurb of the Year.

I bestow it as an assumed consensus choice.

Seconded. It was the only blurb that I didn't want to end (my blurbs included).

I had WALL-E at #1 too! Excellent job on the countdown this year Elemeno, as always.

Great job Elemeno Already have quite a few on my que, saw "Encounters...." the other night and it was really beautiful, would have been Top 10 and just a few hours ago I saw Shotgun Stories. Never would have seen that without this thread and goddamn glad I did, probably would have been 1 or 2 had I seen in it time. Really remarkable flick.

Thanks everyone. Been swamped the last few days but I'll have an update on the scoring and run through 100-60 with some additional bonus trivia and teasers- should glide through the rest of the list by Tuesday.

The second half of that movie is horrible.

It's definitely a goofy change of pace, but I wouldn't call it horrible, even if it doesn't match the achievements of the first half.

Truth be told, 2008 wasn't an impressive year. I've even grown less enamored with Hunger since its release.

Great year for dumb action movies.

The Dark Knight

Iron Man

The Hurt Locker

The Wrestler

Cloverfield

I guess the only thing that sticks out on the "bird will like it" scale is Waltz With Bashir?

Great year overall, I was putting together a Top 10 to revote for the heck of it and ended up with 19 films.

So here would be my new Top 10

01. Shotgun Stories

02. In Bruges

03. Encounters at the End of the World

04. Bronson

05. Ip Man

06. Rachel Getting Married

07. Happy-Go-Lucky

08. Hamlet 2

09. Let the Right One In

10. Gran Torino
