Didn't see a thread on this yet surprisingly! I am quite pumped for it, they say they are going to go for a dance sound on this record. Oh and the first single "Zero" leaked. Go check it out here. I was quite pleased with the Is Is EP and hope they can build off of that!

So who else is excited?? It is due April 14th!!

I dig the single. I am now excited. :)

Comment from someone who just overheard me playing this on my computer: "What are you listening to, Belinda Carlisle?"

No, fuck Lolla, do a show I can actually afford. Also, I welcome any new Yeah Yeah Yeahs recordings.

No, it'll be stupid, and we're already doing something stupid.

Just what Lolla needs - more bands that have played Chicago festivals in the past two years and are currently playing Coachella

You are familiar with the concept of Lollapalooza? They'll undoubtedly play (unless they headline P4K), and they'll undoubtedly be right back in Fall when the radius clause expires.

not to mention sometimes the bands play shows before theyre announced, play small shows(Interpol at Metro) or secret shows(Spoon at Schubas, if you remember that debacle) then theres also the possibility of after party shows. to me a band playing lollapalooza increases my chances of seeing them.

Yes. Unfortunately, in recent years, they've been increasingly reliant on repeat acts from 2 years back, a couple choice picks from the previous year's P4k, and some rip offs from Coachella. Though there are always exceptions, interesting picks on the Lolla lineup are getting harder and harder to come by. I've gone to Lolla, P4k, and Coachella every year for the past 4 or 5 years, and Coachella consistently has a more original lineup than Lolla. I still have a great time at Lolla every year, but seriously, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, as much as I love them, are the last thing that festival needs.

dont you think that has a lot to do with timing. coachella just hapens to be earlier in the year. i will agree lollapalooza needs some variety with headliners. theyve yet to have anyone who played music back in the 80s

hmm, the single didn't knock me out that much on first listen, and this is coming from a guy that LOVED gold lion. i'm excited for the record but w/ some restraint as well. i think i'm stealing this almost verbatim from pitchfork but perhaps this bands curse (or blessing depending how you view it) is that their EPs outshine their LPs so substantially. show your bones is a really mediocre record at best. but fuck, is is was (is) incredible. even that solo acoustic ep they did in 06 was better than show your bones, by a lot. they do ballads quite well. and this of course doesn't even go to mention their self titled EP, which is brilliant in most ways.
