Oh my god - how great is this song? Adriano Celentano, Prisencolinensinainciusol. It was recorded in 1972.
How far ahead of its time - hiphop rhythm like 7 or 8 years before hiphop, and no kidding, done by a 30 something year old Italian pop singer. I have no proof and can't find much info on this song, but it really sounds like the whole thing is built entirely around tape loops. The video does some interesting work, too.
I'm trying to think of anything else from that era that sounds even remotely close and I can't think of one song. Maybe someone has more info on this song?
Anyhow - a cool find. Hope you enjoy it!
Oh my dear lord - how far ahead of its time was this song?

that's pretty awful to me, and not very groundbreaking
aleyna> i just scare off hipsters by putting my cigarette out in their eyes
aleyna> that teaches them not to get in my way.

That's a complete ripoff and not half as good as soul music from the same era. Not to discourage people posting exciting finds, but that's no good in every way.
