according to Pitchfork

Hopefully it will be as great as Beyond
Wasn't sure if this reunion would keep going, thrilled to see that it is.

I was just blasting BEYOND in my cubicle last Friday. I think it's my favorite Dinosaur Jr. album. I've always wished they would get a rhythm guitarist live as the songs sound so much better as fleshed out as they are on the album. Live Dinosaur Jr. is still a tower of sound but they speed the songs up a bit too much and loose some of the nuances.

I've pretty much come to the same conclusion--You're Living...and Where You Been are the only other ones in the conversation.

Aside from a couple of songs, Beyond was totally underwhelming. Please sack Lou. Most overrated band member in the history of music. Bug is probably the best record, but Hand It Over isn't far behind. Kevin Shields = God.

i think for me, as much as i love their old records, it wasn't until 'Where You Been' that I actually started enjoying the sound of their records (production-wise). songwise i won't argue that Bug isn't amazing, but i wanna hear J's guitar wanking in hi-fidelity. Beyond had 2-3 songs i didn't love (and yeah one was that slower Lou song), but for a "comeback" album of sorts, it was a total success for me and totally re-invigorated my interest in them, which had died by about 1997 previously. the shows on that tour were fantastic too.

Yeah, it really is--"I Don't Think", "Can't We Move This" and "I Know Yer Insane" are all top-notch dino. And "Alone", wow.

I don't know why, but I find this pretty humorous.

(Not a dig at you, JTFS.)

I'm absolutely looking forward to this. I love the original line-up albums, and only know some of the later stuff, mostly Where You Been. I mean, the solo on Out There? Fucking amazing! That Live in the Middle East DVD is kickin' as well. I ripped the audio and I might have listened to that more than anything else this past fall.

Good news. I'm hoping I'll get the chance to see them live. My dream of getting to see Mission of Burma live was realized last year (twice -- they were great).

I'm pretty sure I saw J at the Burma show last month, as I was leaving. A few people went up to say hello, but I wasn't sure it was him. I later looked up his wikipedia entry and it was definitely him. A couple of google searches revealed that they had played together at least a few times.

I just keep getting happier and happier.

Has anyone ever heard this though. Apparently they did a song in the 90's for a soundtrack. Where all the rock artists paired up with rap artists to do a song. Here is Dino Jr's and Del The Funk Homosapien. I threw in one by Teenage Fanclub and De La Soul too.
