OK here goes. In this thread feel free to suggest and discuss the best films released between 1950 and 1969.
The limit here is currently 100 films BUT if enough people feel they can do lists of 150 or even 200 I will strongly consider making those the limit.

Taking the limit as 100 though

1. 1000
2. 750
3. 500
4. 400
5. 350
6. 320
7. 300
8. 280
9. 260
10. 250
11. 245
12. 240
13. 235
14. 230
15. 225
16. 220
17. 215
18. 210
19. 205
20. 200

25. 175
30. 150
31. 148
32. 146
33. 144
34. 142
35. 140

40. 130
45. 120
50. 110
55. 100
60. 90
65. 80
70. 70
75. 60
80. 50
85. 40
90. 30

95. 20
96. 18
97. 16
98. 14
99. 12
100. 10

Again hope this will put an emphasis on ordering the higher end of the list and won't penalise those who submit smaller lists or give a bias to either the films we've all seen or high ranking films on a few lists.

The deadline for votes is 15th May at the moment and the list will be counted down before the end of the month. Again don't expect a list with enteries as long as displayed on previous votes on here. The final countdown for every set will be 150 or maybe 200 depending on votes but the full list of multiple votes will be made available.

Best places to start...

Where is Jean-Luc Godard in this mix for everyone? I've only seen Contempt (good, but not something i want to see again) and Une Femme Est Une Femme (which I fell in love with just last week) List under construction: The Court Jester, 1956 ("The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true!") 2001: A Space Odyssey-Stanley Kubrick, 1968 The Sound of Music-Robert Wise, 1965 West Side Story

Dude, I have Breathless ( bout de souffle) in the top ten with Weekend and Masculine-Feminine in the middle.

Contempt is overrated, not a fan. I'd also recommend Alphaville as a contender, it has its charms.

Would it help anyone if I were to post the original 499 movie favorites list? I don't know if anyone recovered it pre-crash...it might be beneficial for the continuing crisis polls.

No need, it's in the archieve. I'd rather people posted personal suggestions instead of just picking off that list. I'll make sure every eligible film on that list is mentioned though.

I haven't seen Guiness in "Ladykillers," but I made the awful mistake of watching the Coen Brothers/Tom Hanks version first. I hope it hasn't ruined it for me.

The cack re-make didn't spoil The Ladykillers for me. A fantastic film and one of a handful of Ealing comedy classics that will make my list.
