Yeah, I thought this episode was great. Definitely better than last season's premier. It felt like it dragged a bit, but that's better than the this-is-just-two-episodes-glued-together feel from last season.

I was hoping that they'd drag out the Kevin being retarded thing for a few episodes, but the resolution to it was pretty good. The way...uh, new chick (I don't remember her name yet) went "NO!" when she heard Angela laying into Kevin, that was great.

The two-episodes glued together thing is a nod to syndication, I think.

Anyway, I've been thinking of growing a goatee over the weekend (my first)

After last nights episode, I just don't think I can do it.

Tragedy averted.

No, it'll be stupid, and we're already doing something stupid.

"I have a nice comforter, and several cozy pillows. I usually read a chapter of a book, and it's lights out by 8:30. THAT'S how I sleep at night." Killed me. Really struck me as a classic bit of Office humor.

I love the fact that you can completely believe Kevin sounding like he is handicapped without changing any of his dialogue one bit.

The two highlights of the episode for me were Andy going "Ayyyy-oooohhhh!" when Angela kissed him, and Ryan explaining his poor treatment of Kelly with "I hadn't completely processed 9/11". Oh yeah, and Jan talking about her candles being used for the abducted girl's vigil, then being disappointed upon learning she'd been found.

Yes. Okay episode. I was going to post that the bolded above was the highlight. It was that dark, smart humor that's kind of been absent.

Better than a lot of season 4, though.

The best part about this episode and why it was better than the majority of last season (except the finale, obviously), was this: The Office tries to get you laugh 2 ways; by telling jokes, and by making you feel awkward. Now, the show is classic when it's doing both, but for most of last season, it was just putting characters in really uncomfortable situations. The premiere was all about jokes, and they were all pretty great.
