William's new album is just killer... def his most produced album to date (strings, etc.), but his voice has never sounded better imo.

also has my favorite artwork of the year so far

DMZ- s/t (1978)

This is a great early punk/garage album that I found on Sid's legendary Vinyl Rips thread.
I never even heard of this band! Nice little discovery.

Yeah, DMZ were awesome. And pretty huge on the east coast for a while (or so I have read). If I ever put together an all-time greatest garage tunes list, "Don't Jump Me, Mother" would be near the top fer sure. I'll put up their Bomp! EP when I get a chance - there's a killer Roky Erickson cover on it.

Arcade Fire -- Funeral

I really have unfairly forgotten about the Arcade Fire after Neon Bible. Listening to Funeral again today was a pleasant treat, despite the experience including waiting for an el for roughly 30 minutes in crummy sub-zero conditions. I really hope whenever they come out with album three, it's more in the Funeral ballpark than the Bible park.
I've got dials and knobs soft to the touch

David Thomas Broughton, The Complete Guide to Insufficiency. I absolutely love this perfect record. Any Broughton fans here?
Few beings have ever been so impregnated, pierced to the core, by the conviction of the absolute futility of human aspiration. The universe is nothing but a furtive arrangement of elementary particles. A figure in transition toward chaos. That is what will finally prevail. The human race will disappear. Other races in turn will appear and disappear. And human actions are as free and as stripped of meaning as the unfettered movements of the elementary particles. Good, evil, morality, sentiments? Pure ‘Victorian fictions.’ All that exists is egotism. Cold, intact, and radiant.
