of all the songs that everyone loves that I can't see the appeal of at all, "CGYOOMH" is definitely number one.
Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

It's an ok song. Not amazing, and suprising as a breakthrough, but not a bad song.

Sorry to go back a few hours, but WTF "Clocks"? Schmaltz ahoy.

have you heard that remix? i recall specifically seeing that listed more than the original.

#36.

The White Stripes - "Seven Nation Army"

i thought i heard this played by the blue band during the illinois/penn state game over the weekend and texted my sister, a psu student, to confirm. she didn't know the song, but thankfully her boyfriend hasn't been living under a rock and knew it.

CGYOOMY is amazing, you all are nerds. End of discussion. You know, I know this has been brought up and all, but I was truly expecting more rap/hip-hop singles. GREAT list, don't get me wrong. I was just expecting a whole lot more love for the great hip-hop singles of the era.

LAFS > CGYOOMH

Not in a million years.
The video and the dance routine are what really make CGYOOMH to be honest, but they make it so damn well that it eclipses anything else Kylie's done lately.

In other news: Have we had/any chance of coming up - Never Ever & Baby One More Time? I really lost track after Toxic was placed so low and Kylie's totally rubbish 'Come Into My World' did as it did.

Why so bitter? 'Pretty sure she wrote that herself' - does it matter? Heads out of arses please.

"No Good Advice" got three votes. Me, Scott and Raj.

(Greatest Hits out tomorrow!!)

:) GA-lovin' is the best lovin' - I'm rapidly becoming an addicted fanboy, thank god they're releasing a rubbish cover for Christmas. The theory by which they release sleazy ballads to keep them in the charts and on the radio, really works as a much-needed cooling period for me. But today's Number Five has got me boiling over. I'm just so inredibly happy.

(GH out on October 30th btw)

Jesus, I love 'discussing' pop music on indie forums and indie on pop forums. Clearly an arse in need of attention!

DID YOU READ THAT?

Yo, overthinker:

Most sarcasm isn't to be taken literally. And I don't know how you made the leap to bitter.

Well, it's certainly better than the original, but certainly still too high (if it even should be on the list).

Smashing Pumpkins - "Tonight, Tonight"

(950 Points, 17 Votes)

Year
: 1996

US Chart Position: #36 / #5 Modern Rock / #4 Mainstream Rock

UK Chart Position: #7

Acclaimed Music Ranking: n/a

Rank on Our All-Time Singles List: #99

AMG Says: "With a deep pump like a slow heart, ”Tonight, Tonight”, from the Smashing Pumpkins’ 1995 Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, packs an emotional punch without the brat beating crash bang of either their own earlier efforts, those of so many of their peers. Understated, restrained but nearly bursting through the strings that bar the door to overkill, Corgan’s voice falls behind the music, held back by the insistence of Jimmy Chamberlain’s drums and James Iha’s nimble guitar, as his lyrics weave a story of urgency and longing more akin to Robert Herrick’s epic poem “To the Virgins, To Make Much of Time" than to the gruff fuzz crunch that fans expected. Sweet, and sweetly tempered, ”Tonight, Tonight” proved to be right on track in the U.S, scoring the band a Top Thirty Pop hit. It surpassed that triumph across the Atlantic with an even better received #7 single."

Ranked Highest By: Thresholdofrevelation (#3)

I kind of expected Tonight, Tonight to go even higher - top 20 at least. I figured it to be the highest ranking Pumpkins song. And Elastico, Cherub Rock isn't 95-04.

Good fucking run. Glad to see "Jesus Walks" and "Tonight Tonight". I am really puzzling over the top ten right now. It seems like we're missing way too many songs to fit into the remaining slots.
