A lot of people talk about the different “sides” of the board and who spends time where. It made me wonder if I’m the only one that avoids the hassle of viewing separate “sides” using the “View New Posts” option. It combines all current threads into one list, regardless of their category and usually displays only those threads that have new posts since you last looked. You don’t have to bounce through various sub-forums and you don’t miss the occasional Plug Once or SO suggestions posts. Give it a shot. Beyond that, my viewing habits are: - Mostly 9-5 weekday surfing from work - Don’t display avatars and signatures - Refreshing every 3 minutes or so to avoid real work and check results on the latest Michael Jackson vs. Corey Feldman poll - Occasional upload/download from home on nights/weekends - Never look at the rest of the SO site Howz bout you?

With vasiline smeared on the monitor. It gives everyone the "Betty Grable" effect.

Read all of my stupid song parodies here. Latest song improved/ruined: "Once Again" by Girl Talk.

Listen to my stupid song parodies, recorded a capella via cell phone, at vocalo.org .(search 'agrimorfee')

Read the slowly developing history of classic putative rock band The Anderson Council at my cheap, bland blog

Might as well throw my Last.fm page here, too.

I mostly use the View New Posts as well, although I do go to the "sides" when looking for something specific, sometimes. I display avatars, but no sigs, do lots of refreshing all day and sometimes do some uploading/downloading on the weekends and at night. Never see anything but the message board.
I use the old blue skin as well.
Sail Away: The Songs of Randy Newman -7.5/10
Dusty Springfield - Dusty in Memphis 8.5/10
Buddy & Julie Miller - Written in Chalk wow, first listen, but great great record! 9.3/10
Justin Townes Earle - Midnight at the Moviessurprisingly great, never picked up his past releases, but this one's knocking my socks off right away, 8.7/10
M. Ward - Hold Time 8.0/10
Neko Case -Middle Cyclone her best I've heard is my initial impression, but too soon to rate, haven't had a really good listen yet 7.8/10

"After much thought into this, I have finally come to a conclusion as to why the ‘Meet the Spartans’ commercial is so funny:

It is an interesting choice to have Sanjaya sing ‘I’m not gay,’ as his final words on earth. As he is plummeting into a seemingly bottomless pit, he does not say ‘dear god no,’ ‘I love you mom,’ or even simply ‘argh.’ He instead takes the moment to reaffirm to the world, in spite of their doubts, that he is not a homosexual. Not only that, but he continues to sing, despite falling to his certain death. The distinct lack of plausibility of this situation is what produces giggles from our mouth. It is the antithesis to the belief that ‘it’s funny because it is true.’

Old-school blue board skin, avatars & sigs on. I bounce back & forth between the two big forums, clicking the little orange boxes next to thread titles for the last unread post.

A cop told me a story once of a guy they pulled over driving erratically on I-80 near Starved Rock. He was doing 85 and weaving all over the place. When they walked up to the car they couldn't even see through the windows. He rolled his window down and was naked covered in vaseline. He had the whole car covered with it, including the windshield.

Now, there's a fetish.

I personally like it, but it's taken a while to break down some barriers. SOMBIES don't let people in very easily. Sometimes conflict resolves into newer better situations. Overall, I like it because I love music, and the etc. side is cool too. And I like Simakos because he's friendly and a genuinely nice guy.

I employ the Peyton Manning approach of seeing the whole field intuitively. I achieve a zen-like calm and posting seems to occur in slow motion, like I'm back in Pop Warner SOMB.

Try to get on a little on weekends...wish I had more time for donloading, y'all send the thing, etc. Mostly use it as a fun diversion between counseling sessions from 7 a.m to 4 p.m. I've met a lot of great people due to this place. Don't know that I'd ever totally quit it. :)
