Yeah, as I mentioned in another thread, my 2006 albums list is lower on rap music than in pretty much every year since the genre existed. There doesn't really seem to have been any hype about anything, Fishscale aside. So yeah, pimping of stuff I need to be listening to would be awesome, uploads would be even better.
Well cool on the web like Spiderman.

Nice bowl of Crunchy Nut you got here, pretty expensive as I recall.

Yeah, forgot about him. Quite dug the stuff I've heard, dunno if any of it has matched up to cap back yet though. Will add him to my list. Also I did hear the new Streets album, which I forgot to mention, but that was pretty shit.

my favourite release from this year. it's very very good.

liked this one a lot on the first listen, but then with time and in retrospect to his other releases it kind of went down a bit. in some parts i get this cartoonish feel from it.

the only album i was able to track down from deej's list of recomendations. not my thing. reminded me of common's "be" but with better rapping and worse/or maybe equal production

indeed
a huge letdown

I like the Lupe Fiasco album. And also the Rhymefest album, Blue Collar. I haven't heard The Roots album yet, but I've heard good (and bad) things about it. The Subtle album, For Hero: For Fool is great, but I don't know if that qualifies as rap in your book, although it does have many of the elements. Sway's This is My Demo is definitely interesting. And Tom Waits gets damn close to rap on both Brawlers and Bastards.
make it three yards, motherfucker, and we'll have an automobile race

Yeah, Rhymefest's album is pretty solid all the way through. "Devil's Pie" has to be the song of the year...

I would second what's been mentioned so far.

My two favorite Rap releases this year may be these two:

Others that I like that haven't been mentioned:
People Under the Stairs
Juvenile
Young Dro
Jedi Mind Tricks
Suga Free
Pigeon John
Shawnna

I was dissappointed with the Mr. Lif and the Roots.

Grabbing what I can of these. Has Def Jux put anything worthwhile out this year?

I'm grabbing off soulseek at the moment, old school and slower but it still does the job.

I might be wrong, but I think the only full length they've put out is Mr. Lif's Mo' Mega, which is the least interesting thing I've heard him do. His delivery seems to be completley flattened out into a boring, bored-sounding, nasal monotone, and the beats and lyrics just don't carry it like they have in the past (I love I Phantom and liked the Perceptionists). The political stuff doesn't get much more interesting than "Fuck Bush", which isn't exactly rocket science in 2006, especially when Boots Riley is doing hilarious, sexy political shit like Pick a Bigger Weapon. Expect to see Mo' Mega pencilled in to a lot of year end lists on the basis of the Def Jux name and some of Lif's past work.

There's a good pair of Aesop Rock songs (if you are into Aesop Rock) that came out with a book.

The fast cars thing? Or a new one. Also it seems there was a new Louis Logic this year, must check that out, Sinamatic was great.

He's one of my favorites and I'd probably be jumping to defend him now if this post wasn't mostly OTM. I haven't listened to Mo' Mega more than 5 or 6 times, either. I haven't been listening to as much hip-hop this year in general since I lost my car CD player, though.

El-P has a new album in January, unless it gets pushed back yet again.
