Getting my wisdom teeth removed next week. What should I ask for? I can't wait for my free drugz.

My cheeks are puffy and I need chew toys, it's like they grew in overnight. Eatin' jello right now.

actiq -- lollipop painkiller that contains fentanyl (80x more powerful than morphine). it's meant for cancer patients suffering 'acute pain', but is widely prescribed off-label.

I guess it depends on who you are going to ask. A lot of doctors don't like to prescribe Schedule II stuff.

My dentist is sending me to some oral surgeon so I have no idea what he's willing to hand out. I'm excited to meet him. I'm excited for surgery. I'm that bored, yes.

Wisdom teeth extractions ? You can forget the fentanyl (I think). Prolly the doc will prescribe Vicodin and 800mg Motrin. That's what I got and it did the job quite well.

Ooh, boy, I'm a big fan of the vicodn and vodka cocktail. Nothings more doozy. I was hoping for a less available painkiller (lol, that I can't buy at school), but I wouldn't be upset with the vikey, no way.

Had all of my wisdoms removed in September and never used the vicodin. Honestly didn't bother me very much.

Are you going to be put under while they do it? They don't always put people under when removing wisdom teeth.

Have them do it. You will likely wish you had done what I said if you don't.
I had one removed without being put under. Not fun. It had to be busted up and removed piece by piece. When I had the other three removed, I was put under. I had to pay a few $hundred extra for anesthesia.

I had mine extracted while under "conscious sedation". I think its a mixture of Demerol and Verced (sp?). They administer it as an IV drip and things....get......funny.....then quite relaxed.....then very warm.......then......they............get......very.......slow......and............ :) :) :) But, you do not fall completely asleep. You can respond to simple commands like "Sit up straighter" or "Don't slump over". Which believe me - once you get enough of that mixture - you will. But you will have very little memory of the entire thing. Quite a blessed relief actually - especially after infection or impaction like I've had, too. Best of luck and a fuzzy Muzak-sounding Mike Post theme-song medley coming from the ceiling speakers featuring Sugar Blue, Buckethead, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to ya' !

I wrote about this on the SOMB last year, when I fully engaged in the above. And it was GREAT!

Maybe I wasn't completely under, and I just didn't remember any of it.

You will most likely be prescribed 10-20 Vicodin 500mg. ; some old school dentists still prescribe Tylenol/Codeine 3's, which, I think, are kinda lame. but still an opiate, so, better than nothing. I would be careful about asking for drugs by name, like, " Can I have some Vicodins?", as many doctors see this as a red flag that you are a narcotic-seeking patient. Better to ask, doefully, "Will I be needing something for pain?" I can't picture an oral surgeon, frankly, being unwilling to dispense some kick-down pain meds. Odd chance you may get Vicodin 650's on the first round, in which case, you will see your popularity suddenly soar. They have a lot more hydrocodone (dope) than the popular 500's, and not as much Tylenol. My doctor told me that the Tylenol is actually more harmful to you than the hydrocodone, as it really plays havoc with your liver. If you want something more "exotic", you will probably have to employ the classic coolrock "Three Hours Later Whine". Three hours later, call the doctor back and say the pain meds he gave you are not cutting it, and all you want to do is get some rest/sleep. Stress that you are not driving, working, and are home for the day with a friend/guardian. Then he might bump you up to Percocet, Norco, maybe Talwin---all extremely fine pain killers. When I get the Vic 500's, I usually pop two right off the bat ( you bantam-weights probably will be happy with one), then about forty five minutes later, I always think of that album title, "Here Come the Warm Jets". I think you will understand. Then I usually take one more about an hour later, and it keeps the buzz alive without over-doing it. I love pain meds, but too many is a really shitty high, so be careful. Easy with the booze, also, and combining with other prescription drugs. More people die from OD's from the combining of drugs than the over-use of one. As your flaming waiter would say, " Enjoy!"
As the psychiatrist said to the man wearing nothing but Saran-Wrap, "I can clearly see you're nuts."

the first part of that sentence sounded promising
the second part, not so much

hope you're doing better
