I figured the board hasn't blown Westerberg and Co. in a few weeks, so what better time than now? :D Definitely a really solid, fun album. As great as the "punk" stuff is (esp. We're Coming Out), it is so trumped by the really "westerbergian stuff," in particular I Will Dare (a masterful piece of pop songwriting, this is what "meet the beatles" would have first sounded like if it came out after 1977) and especially "Androgynous," a tune so fucking brilliant and original I have no idea how to describe it. have at it kids.

I passed on it at the Tower sale, as I already had way too many "blind buys" in my hands, and I continue to have a sneaking suspicion that I just won't like it

i had one of those too, kinda. i'd check it out. it's really solid, i dunno if it's the classic everyone makes it out to be, but westerberg is definitely a good songwriter.

Every song on this album is fantastic. That is my opinion.

Damo Suzuki: So, um, yeah. Getting older isn't as bad as it sounds. Better than being young & poor (DjDrake) or young & slutty (SG) or young, poor and slutty (Paves); am I right?

Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam

1. Take "Black Diamond", "Seen Your Video", "Gary's Got a Boner", and "Sixteen Blue" off of this album.

2. Take "Waitress in the Sky", "Swingin' Party", "Lay it Down Clown", and "Little Mascara" off of Tim.

3. Combine remaining tracks.

4. You get the best album ever made!

And you can't have a Let It Be discussion without someone proclaiming that "Unsatisfied" is one of the greatest rock songs of all time.

That's cuz it is.

I can see a defense for maybe one of those songs.

You can leave "Gary's Got a Boner" off the mix.

Actually why make a mix?
Let It Be is nearly perfect as is.

I think mb and tweed are confused. elastico's trying to make Let it Be better by taking away his 4 least favorite tracks and replacing them with his 4 favs from Tim. I kinda agree, although Let It Be really ought to be left alone. And how he could want to get rid of "Sixteen Blue" is beyond me.
Sail Away: The Songs of Randy Newman -7.5/10
Dusty Springfield - Dusty in Memphis 8.5/10
Buddy & Julie Miller - Written in Chalk wow, first listen, but great great record! 9.3/10
Justin Townes Earle - Midnight at the Moviessurprisingly great, never picked up his past releases, but this one's knocking my socks off right away, 8.7/10
M. Ward - Hold Time 8.0/10
Neko Case -Middle Cyclone her best I've heard is my initial impression, but too soon to rate, haven't had a really good listen yet 7.8/10

I wasn't confused. I just didn't think that there were many disposable songs on Let It Be.
(Except for possibly "Gary's Got A Boner")

Maybe you could put the best songs from Tim after Let It Be as bonus tracks or something.
I could live with that.

ah, I misread your post. I thought you thought the songs listed were to go INTO a mix. Anyway, you and I basically agree anyway. go on about your business.
