1. Successfully executed comedy. 2. Interesting plot developments. 3. Brilliant chemistry between characters. 4. Things you haven't seen before. 5. Bill Murray.

Damo Suzuki: So, um, yeah. Getting older isn't as bad as it sounds. Better than being young & poor (DjDrake) or young & slutty (SG) or young, poor and slutty (Paves); am I right?

Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam

Elemeno, I'm sorry we disagreed so vehemently on Idiocracy. Let's make up over the equally amateur but the thousand times cooler and gagillion times funnier Hot Rod.

Watched this per-recommendation. Quite a surprisingly funny little gem. Made me wish Bill Pullman was more successful.

"Two guys...in an airport...talking?..."

Posted Image
Pullman has a nice small role in this nice small movie, where Ben Kingsley plays a alcoholic hitman. Director John Dahl is seriously one of the top forty directors working Today. Look at this filmography

Red Rock West (1992)
The Last Seduction (1994)
Rounders (1998)
Joy Ride (2001)
You Kill Me

Such a beautiful film.
Few beings have ever been so impregnated, pierced to the core, by the conviction of the absolute futility of human aspiration. The universe is nothing but a furtive arrangement of elementary particles. A figure in transition toward chaos. That is what will finally prevail. The human race will disappear. Other races in turn will appear and disappear. And human actions are as free and as stripped of meaning as the unfettered movements of the elementary particles. Good, evil, morality, sentiments? Pure ‘Victorian fictions.’ All that exists is egotism. Cold, intact, and radiant.

Wrong. It's better than Mr. Show.

Wrong again. Mr. Show bettered throughout their run. "Sunny" became a parody of itself.

Past tense? The show has only had 32 eps, the equivalent of two seasons for most shows. And the new season starts up very soon.

The highs of Sunny in Philly are higher than Mr. Show imo, but both shows are awesome.

Agreed. Visually amazing. It's the only Béla Tarr film that I've seen.
Any recommendations?

Watching The Day the Earth Stood Still on AMC, haven't seen it in a while.

Which leads me to a question. There's some trailer for Last Samurai playing on AMC, and the song playing over it....(what I had here before was wrong)

Anyone know?

EDIT- The song may not be by the band I mentioned, the info I looked up was referring to last summer's playing of the film, and maybe this summer's has new music to it. The preview repeats lines, and shows the same footage in different colors, it's almost like a DJ remix of the film...I feel like I've heard the song that plays over it somewhere. It's a cool beat, no idea what artist did it.
