I really need to hear Silversun Pickups

Everyone does, especially fans of early Pumpkins

Everyone's talking about the early Pumpkins connection, but I'm not hearing it.

I don't get what everyone is so excited about with M. Ward. It's a mystery to me, he's rather bland and more of the same, all his albums just blend together into one long ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

well, it's obvious lots of people here like Matt and Post-War, so get over it ;) (i'm starting to think a top 5 showing from Matt is likely...)

you're just bitter because Yellow House is likely not gonna break top 50 :P

but no really, it's personal taste... just like you don't get why people love Matt or Post-War, i don't really get the love for Grizzly Bear all that much either, different strokes...

no, you are, just as anyone else is, but i think it's obvious people hear/see something in his music, so questioning is a bit silly. i've never stated that i find Grizzly Bear boring or without merit, or that i can't hear what others hear in them, i just personally am not that big on their sound unfortunately.

ok ok, enough about grizzly bear. I love that album and it's my #1 but it's not running my life, contrary to your perspective on how insane I might be. Hahaha... anyhow. I just used to really enjoy M. Ward, and I was disappointed he's changed so little and *IN MY EYES* just sort of apes himself over and over again. That's all....OBVIOUSLY i'm in the minority about this one, as I am about Joanna Newsom, Hold Steady and a slew of other irritating acts...

i could see people confusing Transfiguration with Transistor, but Post-War is quite different and stands apart from his other albums.

i agree, lot more full band/fuller sound this time. but i also don't think artists have to necessarily change to still put out great records. if the songwriting is strong, i don't really care. i think he's just perfecting his craft at this point, i'm sure we'll see more dramatic changes in sound from him in the future.

27. Slowlands - Never Was There a Town

Darn it dano, i was expecting a better showing from Slowlands than this! After all, you were with me in the original lovin' months back. And i mean, c'mon, you have Band of Horses at #1!! :P

Oh well, at least you placed it within your top 30. I'm just curious though: did it wear thin for you over time?
I don't even get your t-shirts pun.

11. Richard Buckner – Meadow
12. Ben Harper – Both Sides of the Gun

HUUUUUGE huge Harper fan here... and this is EASILY his worst record to date... out of both discs there's like 2-3 good songs on the rock disc and 3-4 on the the other one.

Diamonds on the Inside was a huget letdown too, but compared to this it sounds quite good. i doubt Ben will ever release anything on the level of those first 3 (even Burn To Shine was pretty great). i'd love for him to prove me wrong though.

but, you're the only other person i recall seeing so far to include Buckner, so :)

7. White Whale-WWi

Whoa, another one. My friend just told me that Rob Pope is in Spoon now, or at least recording with them in Texas. So who knows if this is the last we'll hear of White Whale...

its like a group of nerds just get together to self indulge their self, just like sound opinions message board.

Last post about this then I'll give the thread back.

...Bassist Joshua Zarbo recently left the band on amicable terms, and Daniel says the group’s upcoming show at the White Rabbit — their first in San Antonio in seven years — will feature Rob Pope, formerly of the Get-Up Kids, on bass....

http://www.sacurrent...newsid=17248139

I know that only says he's playing live with them but my friend (who's good friends w/ Rob's girlfriend in Kansas) says he's recording the new album with them in Texas, too.

eew. I know music taste is subjective for the most part and i try not to judge too much, but this stuff sucks. And I do realize others have voted for it, so I'm not picking on a new person. do you like 30 seconds to mars too? :P
