But not Nights of Cabirias
8 1/2 seems to artsy to be considered a kick ass kind of film. Don't get me wrong it is a great film but not everyone can get into it. Nights of Cabiria can be shown to anyone who has a heart. I tend to enjoy art that has a universal feel to it.

Agreed on both. The Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas is fantastic.
Short Cuts is really nicely done as well.
I just watched "Kicking & Screaming" over the weekend. I'm not even sure why Criterion released it.

Fassbinder's Ali: Fear Eats the Soul
Schloendorff's The Tin Drum
Terry Gilliam Brazil has a deluxe, 3-disc edition with more extras than you could shake a stick at or even realistically watch
Eric Rohmer's Claire's Knees has great interviews
John Cassavetes The Faces is chock full of goodies
Apparently, there used to be a print of John Woo's Hard Boiled that kicked ass, but it's out of print

mmmm...good stuff on that brazil set. flip through the 'love conquers all' version of the movie for a michael bay-like reinterpretation.
also...are there any criterion discs NOT worth getting? i've only had good luck so far, but surely there's a weak-featured dud out there?
oh, and 'au hasard balthazar' has some great features.
since you were nineteen and still in school
waiting on a light on the corner by sound exchange
particularly fond of the tammys' "egyptian shumba"
