Montana's a computerized creation, right?

I want to pet your monkey, Hickman.
Every Sunday morning I wake up
I see you by your dresser doing your make-up
Fluttering a Chinese fan in a Knoxville fashion
All last night you tossed and turned
Your body was hotter than the night Richmond burned
You say you had a bad nightmare about tractor trailers crashing

Star Wars Episode I was a prequel. This is a sequel, and like Godfather II and Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2, it's more challenging and too big for people to wrap their heads around within 3 weeks time. Give it a few more years to sink in and its cultural influence will be impossible to ignore.

A good theory, undermined only by thefact that Godfather II was hailed by critics as better than the first from its release. And by this sucking.

Montana just might be this board's best comedic poster.

No, it'll be stupid, and we're already doing something stupid.

His work in the "stoned" thread has more belly laughs than a Judd Apatow movie.

I figured someone would take offense at the hard drugs comment.

So Montana--is there an explanation of what you like about this album somewhere in this thread? I'm not trying to be dick here--honest. I have you to thank for having Colour Haze in my top ten--and that's not the first great album I've heard largely thanks to you. But this. . . this is easily the worst thing I've heard this year. Overproduced, schmaltzy, occasionally funny (unintentionally), and--much worse--mostly very mediocre. I'd honestly like to understand what you like about it--maybe I'm missing something. I've only heard it once so far, so I'll concede that my first impression may be superficial--but I'm not exactly motivated to suffer through it again.

It's a grower. Here's my explanation:

By the way I totally forget about that Colour Haze album. It would have made my top 20.

Thanks--I think I will actually give this at least one more listen. Too bad you forgot Colour Haze--not that it would probably place anyway. But given that you've probably heard somewhere on the order of twice as many albums as I have this year, it sounds like we liked it about equally.

Yeah I've got it going now. Good shit. It just kind of slipped through the cracks, but not because I didn't like it.

From the SPIN review...

Imagine Rammstein covering Wings, basically.

Keep that bar nice and low Monty, wouldn't want to mistake Axl for an actual rockstar.

Ummm.. CD was released in late November, so it had about a month.

Monty, your latest tack here reminds me of 1987, when the jocks on the local rock radio in Cincinnati exulted that "Bon Jovi outsold U2!"

Yeah, sure, that's nice and all, but one of those records still sucks. And it wasn't The Joshua Tree.

Somebody puts a gun to your head and makes you choose between hearing for the billionth time "With or without you" or "Livin' on a prayer". There's only one reasonable choice. Respect Giovi.
