it's gonna be typical nas when all you so called stans sleep on this record. first one that brings the word illmatic to the table is gettin shot at.

best shits:

thank god l.e.s/ remi are on the fronts and back of this shit. mad mad mad knowledge kicked in 'where are they now". whoa @ chris weber beat "blunt ashes". 'black republican' is dope, and like jay said it's what you expected right? the two k-west beats, and play on playa (snoop kills it) and the dre/game track, fyi, game stole illmatic and chronic, respect.

one last thing, oof @ pitchfork for fucking up in their review

pete macia: "But if I'm going to talk negatives, it's really only necessary to mention one song. Will.i.am produced three on the album, and all of them, at least his contribution to them, are decent to good. However, "Who Killed It?", Will's odd nursery-noir beat, is the worst concept song in the history of hip-hop music."

whoops. maybe i aint no joke? way to not know that and think it's some nursery-noir beat, fagz. believe or not, that track actually wraps the album up as a concept, and drops hints at who killed hip hop (wtf's with those west coast/snoop and nwa references?)- fuck it, let nas do his new mic shit he does like that old bitch character he did on streets discpline

album's dope, straight mcin, and not some kingdom done shit

I think it's a great record... LES' beats on this shit are awesome ("Money Over Bullshit" is bananas)... I actually like "Who Killed It".. "Hope" is incredible... only tracks I'm not feeling are "Blunt Ashes" (I think the beat is pretty crappy actually... and the song is just all around retarded... including that shit over "The N" and "Where Y'All At?" SMARTEN UP NAS) and "Hold Down the Block" which isn't bad at all just sort of bland (it'll probably grow on me). Who is this Chrisette Michelle chick? Does she have an album or something? She's awesome.

i've yet to hear it (really want to) and have heard pretty good things. the only negative points i'm hearing are that the production is inconsistient, which has been nas' sole flaw since 2000 pretty much, so i would expect this LP to have at least 2-3 throwaway beats (even if the MCing on the tracks is exceptional)

i have negative opinions about Nas being that he just takes himself a little too serious as an artist. But i heard the song and saw the video for it and i'm quite impressed. Looking forward to hearing more from this album

"After much thought into this, I have finally come to a conclusion as to why the ‘Meet the Spartans’ commercial is so funny:

It is an interesting choice to have Sanjaya sing ‘I’m not gay,’ as his final words on earth. As he is plummeting into a seemingly bottomless pit, he does not say ‘dear god no,’ ‘I love you mom,’ or even simply ‘argh.’ He instead takes the moment to reaffirm to the world, in spite of their doubts, that he is not a homosexual. Not only that, but he continues to sing, despite falling to his certain death. The distinct lack of plausibility of this situation is what produces giggles from our mouth. It is the antithesis to the belief that ‘it’s funny because it is true.’

Hip Hop's been dead for nearly 10 years. Just ask Dr. Dre. It just hasn't climbed into the mausoleum, like disco. Or 80's pop.

So that is actually THE Chris "Time out!!" Webber doing Blunt Ashes? Holy shit, I figured it was just some producer who thought the Kings got robbed a few years back or something. I'm impressed with C-Webb. But the album is really good. One of the first albums I've bought without really hearing more than a little bit of a song or two in many years, which is a pretty good feeling when the album is actually not shit. I read some review of this album before I bought it that said that Nas didn't know how to pick out good beats anymore..and now I'm really wondering what the fuck that person was talking about. There are maybe 1 or 2 songs that are weak beat wise on here(and I was wrong about the Dre track being one of them, song's great) And what's with Will.I.Am actually making music that I enjoy? Overall a really nice album.. I'm not gonna say I'm suprised, I'm just glad.
