seeing a picture of Mark Sandman was a pretty big surprise, considering I had thought he was a fat black man. Any notable times you were completely off?
Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

the dead kennedys their music was so damn cool when i discovered them in 1991. i pictured a bunch of uber cool lookin punks. mohawks, tattoos, and leather. instead they looked like a bunch of nerds. jello looked kind cool though...just not the punk i envisioned. also im sure everyone who has heard but never seen mike watt is shocked when they finally see him. lumberjack isnt the image i get when i listen to him.
i only start threads when im drunk. im scared of the ridicule you will impose when im sober.

I remember being four or five years old or something and seeing a picture of Freddie Mercury for the first time. I honestly would never have guessed that he had a mustache.

Damo Suzuki: So, um, yeah. Getting older isn't as bad as it sounds. Better than being young & poor (DjDrake) or young & slutty (SG) or young, poor and slutty (Paves); am I right?

Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam

Right, right: how can such an ugly motherfucker make such pretty music?

Reminds me of Nietzsche's argument against Socrates: he's wrong cause he's ugly.
make it three yards, motherfucker, and we'll have an automobile race

to be fair, that shot of elliott was around his peak of drug use/insanity/subsequent ugliness. dude wasn't that ugly, maybe a little weird lookin though.

when he was making good music and less crazy

Well, after the first few times of obsessing over "Checkin' It Out" -- by Lil' Chris, though I didn't know it at the time -- I thought it was some new lesbian grrrl band, not a bratty teenage boy.

Proof that I've been living under a rock... until I saw the "I Still Remember" video on PF, I had no idea the lead singer of Bloc Party was black. I had a real Moe-ment ("Waaahh? Maya Angelou is black??!?")

Yup.

I initially found "Banquet" kind of grating in that "white guy trying to sound like a black guy" way. Then I saw a video and went "Oh, he is black, now I'm all turned around on the subject."
