If, after this is all over, you're going to post a list of 525-251, how will that list be any different than these groups of ten? Why not just start out with #150 then? The basic imdb info isn't compelling enough to make anyone rush out to watch, at least not anymore than the title itself.
Sorry to start the list with bitching, it just seems silly to go ten at a time the the first 100 if there's no good info there that would make me want to watch the movie. I can get this type of list off imdb.
True, If this section really is of little interest to anyone then it will be jettisoned in future, I do like to see the films I voted for high and got a few votes in this section just to see them get some recognition at least.
Both 1990-9 and 2000- will be counted down individually from 200.
Now, about the first ten: I tried to watch Buckaroo Banzai a couple months ago, and I don't get it. Is this one of those movies that you had to be there for? It certainly hasn't aged well.
And since when does Major League have a second title?I've never seen that before.
My bad, it's a copy error, original post has been rectified.
How was Delirious a TV movie? HBO? I thought I remember that going to the theaters. I know Raw was in the theater, but not sure about Delirious. I know that's what imdb says, so I'm not questioning you Mitchell, just curious as to how a concert that vulgar was originally on TV.
I was surprised too but I have to go with IMDB, dems the rules I guess.

Read all of my stupid song parodies here. Latest song improved/ruined: "Once Again" by Girl Talk.
Listen to my stupid song parodies, recorded a capella via cell phone, at vocalo.org .(search 'agrimorfee')
Read the slowly developing history of classic putative rock band The Anderson Council at my cheap, bland blog
Might as well throw my Last.fm page here, too.

question:
is this good enough?Alternate Versions for
The Executioner's Song (1982) (TV)
A 97-minutes version was released theatrically in Europe, featuring additional footage with some nudity not shown in original television version.
Yeah, why not.
Dusty Springfield - Dusty in Memphis 8.5/10
Buddy & Julie Miller - Written in Chalk wow, first listen, but great great record! 9.3/10
Justin Townes Earle - Midnight at the Moviessurprisingly great, never picked up his past releases, but this one's knocking my socks off right away, 8.7/10
M. Ward - Hold Time 8.0/10
Neko Case -Middle Cyclone her best I've heard is my initial impression, but too soon to rate, haven't had a really good listen yet 7.8/10

ah, cool. no harm done anyway. Great movie nonetheless. Pretty amazing start too, by the way, some fine films down there in the 240's, particularly, The Stunt Man and The Fabulous Baker Boys.Ok, my bad with that one. It would have been joint 288 FTR.

A daunting task- top 150. Glad the year-end list is limited to top 40....though I may go as high as 50 this year if I get enough lists.
Good to see this up and going. A good start with Oscar winners (Daisy), cult classics(Bonzai) and guilty pleasures (Major League).
Theory is to get to 151 before the end of the week so that we can break off for the EOY and still have the option to run to 101 in any gaps. That's it for today by the way.

Mitchell's traditional method doesn't bother me in the least. Sure, seeing the review on this page vs. clicking the imdb link is marginally more enticing if you've got the time to read it on the spot (not likely in my case). Otherwise, all that info and more is only a click or two away. Remember when GDB used to try to hunt down an allmusic quote for every song, and finally learned that not enough people were reading the quotes to justify his time & effort? I think we have to take the pollster's constraints into consideration...seems like not an unreasonable compromise.
If, after this is all over, you're going to post a list of 525-251, how will that list be any different than these groups of ten? Why not just start out with #150 then? The basic imdb info isn't compelling enough to make anyone rush out to watch, at least not anymore than the title itself.

Both 1990-9 and 2000- will be counted down individually from 200.
This ten-at-a-time method is superior to the straight list that gets posted at the end (i.e., 500-250). If anything, that only gets a glance from me whereas this format allows time for reflection & investigation (albeit solo).
I liked Children of a Lesser God when it came out, probably because I had a crush on Wm. Hurt...haven't seen it since the late 80s. It's the only role I've liked Marlee Matlin in, however.I've only seen Night Shift and Weird Science from that grouping. I've always wanted to check out Bird, and probably will someday. Which of the other seven are worth a rental?
