I still need a 192 kbps rip of the ~7 min. version of "Open Up," if anyone's got it.

Never heard the whole album, but I liked the song from Trainspotting and the other one I had on some random Q compilation.
"Mellow... but not smooth... kinda shitty."
"Jimmy Buffett..."

This should be the sort of thing that I'd dig but it's not. I don't know what it is that I listen for in electronic music but some stuff from that period really grabs me (Chemical Brothers, Underworld) and some just doesn't at all (Fluke, Crystal Method). This falls into that second group, unfortunately.

Here's the entire album...192kbps. It includes 6 minutes and 52 seconds of "Open Up." Now, what are you gonna do for me?

Another album missing from our 1995-04 countdown,
Nice bowl of Crunchy Nut you got here, pretty expensive as I recall.

Coming on a bit strong there. I guess I can listen to the rest of it.

OK it's good, I guess, but I don't quite understand why it's considered one of the greatest. I've owned it for a long time too...
if you like electronic music, go here, I made it and I think some of you might actually enjoy it:

I think "thank you" was the phrase you were looking for. See if I ever fulfill one of your requests again.

I put up the whole album in case anyone else wanted it. get over yourself.

Red, a little harsh there. Surely you've encountered rejection before in your average? 'Melt' is one of the only tracks that hasn't dated completely. I would have loved to have danced to this album in a big room during its time, but I hate the jungle bits.

Another album missing from our 1995-04 countdown,

Yep. It's well fucking good. I keep meaning to dig out Rhythm & Stealth actually. That was stripped down, but really energetic stuff.

Most things are, but I don't think it depreciates the value of a piece of work. I mean all that 60s Dylan, Love and Doors is of its time, but that's probably what makes it as goood as it is. They are all cultural artifacts of a particular time, place and scene. I suppose the problem is with the idea of most 'dance' at its time of release as some form of futuristik, or at least forward thinking, style of music. That kind of philosophy is always going to suffer (it's like the graphics in video games or something. Yer never gonna be the most modern thing forever), but I find that it affects a lot of people into that kind of thing. Like the Ardkore and Jungle movements being something spesh and futurist when they started. When that kind of cultural albatross is placed around its neck it will wilt with time, no doubt. I try not to worry about that kind of thing.

Yes.

It's mostly an electronic thing. It's almost awkward listening to it. It would be totally wtf? if thrown into a mix now. That's not true of all electronica. Aging well= not sounding awkward in present time.
