i'm seriously considering not voting for daley
this article, if yr unsure, makes a pretty good argument against voting for da mare:

http://www.chicagore...ies/mayordaley/

i saw the rival candidates on chicago tonight. dorothy brown seems totally suspect and rumors have dogged her that she ran to split the black vote. the other dude seems alright but i cant find much information on him.

Daley is the incumbent, all-powerful thief. Brown is the unqualified, small-time thief. "Dock" Walls is a Washington coattail riding, as-yet-unknown thief. Take your pick...we got black thieves, fat thieves, white thieves, prat thieves. If it's a Cook County politician? It's crooked. Yeah, I'm voting - I'd like to vote for Brown because of her vocal opposition to the ridiculous Olympic bid (mostly due to the rotting CTA) but that'd be the same as crumpling the ballot up and throwing it away. Besides, I'm south side Irish and if I did that the Booze Fairy would smote me in my sleep...

i've typically only voted in even-numbered years, but my voting place has just been moved to across the street from where i live, so i may go in tomorrow morning before work. my biggest complaint is by far the CTA budget mismanagement. a super train to o'hare and midway from block 37? um... what happened to the blue and orange lines? oh right, they're terribly slow. fix them at half the budget for this other project.

I'll see your Orange line and raise you a Brown and a Red...and I'm all in. Seriously, this Frank Krusei guy? I would punch him in his fuckin' jaw if I ran across him on a harried morning commute.

Fire every last breathing body in the CTA and go out-of-state and poach the staffs of efficient and modernized public-trans systems from D.C., S.F., et cetera. We've reached critical mass in this city.

I see your Blue Line, but the Orange Line isn't slow in the least. (I'd say it's the fastest of all the El lines). I used to take that sucker downtown everyday a couple years ago and it never took more than 20 minutes to hit the Loop from Pulaski.

i use the brown line every day. and when i get into work, i usually have a "how long did it take you?" discussion with coworker red line users. it's pretty bad. i'll be using metra in april once it'll be nice enough every day to get from west loop to east loop on foot without freezing or getting stuck in slush.

ok, i'll admit i only use the orange line to get to midway or bound around the loop (washington/wells to randolph when coming in on the brown line). and every train is like molasses in the loop.

...more proof that the #1 issue facing the City of Chicago is the rescue of its public transportation system.

there's also the CHA but thankfully that's been brushed 'under the rug' to dolton and the other inner burbs

I don't have to ride the CHA to and from work (though I imagine the majority smells as much of piss as the Red Line does). Moreover, since the entire South Side, from University Park to Olympia Fields to Dolton to Dixmoore, has been sacrificed at the altar of dismantling the CHA you can expect predictable urban diaspora of professional Chicagoans to split north & west, further weakening both the City and the South Side. Way to go, folks!

oh i understand why its not as much of a focus on this board - nonetheless, it is for the many thousands of people who do experience it on a daily basis i would like to see percentages of residents who've actually been relocated to chicago mixed income communities

Why? You'd like to see just exactly how bad this toxic dumping has ruined once-decent school systems and neighborhoods? Or are you curious about escalating crime rates (the Sun-Times just ran a pretty detailed report about that concern a few weeks back in the Sunday paper)?

Don't know or trust the other two. Before today didn't even know the dude's name. But if nothing else, I'm voting no confidence for Daley tomorrow. I'll decide whether it'll be Dorothy Brown or that other guy when I get there.

No, it'll be stupid, and we're already doing something stupid.
