All I can really say is wow. I'm pretty sure it's the best show I've ever been to... but that's just because it was so unique. He played a couple songs from the next album, which is going to be about birds. "Majesty Snowbird"... holy shit. Watch out for it. It was eight to nine minutes of amazing. Chicago started off by Sufjan saying "this is a song about my favorite city". Then one of the trumpet players busted out the theme song to Dallas that smoothly transitioned into Chicago. It was a nice little touch for the texans. He also told the story about "The Predatory Wasp Of The Palisades Is Out To Get Us!". It was pretty funny. He said his friend was a cross between E.T. and a Gremlin. I was a bit disappointed with the encore as it was only one song and four of the members... but it was still pretty amazing. They changed their costumes for it as well and came out looking like rednecks. "Ride the hatch"

this is the third time i've read credible buzz about this song. can't wait to hear it. anyone who was disappointed by Sufjan's last tour (as i was) should really check this one out. HE'S FINALLY FIGURED OUT HIS LIVE SHOW, and it's brilliant.

Does Sufjan have a song called "Godbird", or something? I seem to recall hearing an NPR story about that ivory-billed woodpecker and they used a song of his as the bed....anyone? Bueller???

the answer is yes, it's called "The Lord Godbird" and it's but a trifle of a song.

Yeah he played that one too... something like "Ivory blah blah Godbird". He said it is about the "supposedly" extinct woodpecker. It was okay... but nowhere near as good as Majesty Snowbird.

the one thing that impressed me about the Chicago show during the Illinoise tour was how quiet the crowd was during his songs. Usually there are 25-500 morons who paid for the privilege to talk through the entire fucking show- not that show. You could hear a pin drop during the quieter moments. Really made it enjoyable...

agreed. during "Casmir Pulaski Day," i coughed and felt really guilty. it felt like i just farted really loud in church or something. were you at the show in chicago when the chick passed out during "Gacy" and had to be carted out of there? that was awesome.

i liked that a lot in new york too. but, just my luck, i was standing next to a guy who was humming quietly to the songs. in an otherwise quiet environment, his humming was like a police siren. i wanted to punch him in the name of Jesus.

yes, some moments, but too few. that girl who was standing next to us upstairs was really annoying. perhaps the quietest show i've ever been to was sufjan in philly in 2004. people were actually telling whisperers to shut up.

To quote a wonderfully over-quoted song, "I was there." You'd think that out of all songs someone could pass out too, "Gacy" is a pretty good choice. I loved his show last year and I can't wait until the 26th. Not only do I got get to see Sufjan, I get to see him the day after by birthday. Sweet Jesus, yes.

After a few songs and more than one person telling her to shut it, she left, I believe... I still like kaboom's method of getting mouthy bimbos to shut up. entertaining and effective. no, not that.
