Occasionally I like a big 'ol fancy Hotel type buffet/brunch with made to order omletts, carving stations, belgian waffle makers etc..
But most of the time I crave for some type of Mexican breakfast with a side of pancakes so I can have my sweet/salty thing going. There was a dish at Kitch'n on Roscoe that was a mainstay for awhile I think it had the name "El Muerte" meaning a breakfast to make you rise from the dead. It consisted of chorizo, eggs, hot sauce and some other delicious items.

Best breakfast I have had in my life:
Some very small restaraunt in Tell City, Indiana (close to Kentucky border). Local, farm raised bacon & eggs, home fries, out of this world pancakes, and the best coffee I have ever tasted.
It doesn't sound like anything spectacular, but each item we had was without a doubt the best of what it was. Completely unbelievable. I think it was about $4 a person, too.

I like a simple breakfast.
Coffee and toast is more than enough to fill my appetite and taste delicious. I don't tend to be that hungry in the morning.

My favorite thing to eat in the morning will be lying next to me and won't require me getting out of bed.

My favorite breakfast on the planet can be found at Sam's Cafe, in Champaign, IL The place is a greasy spoon but they make the most unbelievable french toast on the planet. What arrives on your plate is something that looks like a mutant pancake but the taste is out of this world.
My usual order is french toast, coffee, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and cinnamon toast. Why don't more restaurants offer cinnamon toast? Everyone loves it and it only costs a few cents more to make than regular toast.

So you eat the Kleenex after you use them? Never heard that one before.

You'll all be eating oatmeal every morning eventually...that is if you want to stay healthy. Throw in a banana or some crushed almonds...it's ok and most important is nutritious. When I'm being bad...yeah..those hotel Sunday buffets are amazing, especially when they have the raw bar.

most mornings i only have a bagel and orange juice at work. i value sleep too much to wake up for a decent breakfast. then on the weekends i make up for it with huge bowls of cereal or going to one of many delicious brunches around town.
the best i've had in chicago were the gingerbread griddlecakes at selmarie. it was one of those times when i actually made an effort to slow down how fast i ate because i wanted to savor every bite.

Man, I love me a good breakfast. Can only eat a full breakfast once a week though, maybe once every two weeks. Usually, I grab a muffin or breakfast bar on the way out or if I have 5 minutes to spare, I have a bowl of healthy cereal. But my ideal breakfast is:
2 eggs, over easy Corned beef hash w/onion, green pepper and mushrooms Hashbrowns 2 slices wheat toast, buttered (strawberry jelly on side) Fresh OJ Coffee, black
Mmmmmm, this is what I'd get at my fave greasy spoon where I went to school. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had was at an Original Pancake House in Vegas, eggs benedict, a couple of pancakes, bacon and coffee. Delish.

Whatever.

I was just in Vegas, and before going read this article on fun things to do off the strip, which included this breakfast joint: Hash House A Go GoIt's sort of a dual gimmick place: the portions are ridiculously huge; and they involve gourmet ingrediants and recipes. The "eggs benedict" I got, in order of layers: (1) griddle fried potatoes; (2) 2 homemade biscuits sliced in half; (2) a large piece of sage fried chicken breast; (3) smoked bacon: (4) fresh spinach; (5) fresh tomatoes; (6) smoked mozzarella; (7) scrambled eggs; and (8) the whole thing was covered in a chipotle cream sauce. It was probably about 7 inches off the plate; and I only ate about a third of it (and I'm a really big guy). The pancakes are about 2 feet in diameter, and look like something from Pee Wee's playhouse...and you can get snickers in them. And if you like dessert coffees (I don't, but my wife does)...get the smores mocha coffee. It has a thick layer of charred marshmallow on top of the coffee, with gram crackers for dunking, and the whole thing is drizzled with chocalate sauce. If if Vegas...go to this place (but make sure you have ride arrangements, its about 6 miles off the strip).

Yeah...it's a really gluttonous destination. Definitely not the kind of place you should visit with any sort of regularity....but I guess it fits in with Vegas for that reason (although the odd thing is its really a restaurant that's more for locals than visitors).

I'm a breakfast whore. I love it all.
Benedict's (or something like that. Closed now, used to be on Lincoln): Eggs Benedict with fresh crab meat instead of ham, cherry coke and complimentary popcorn that they served.
Bongo Room: Eggs Florentine or Neapolitan Pancakes (Pancakes with chocolate, strawberry and vanilla cremes on top)
Tre Kronor: Swedish pancakes with Lingonberries
Orange: Green Eggs and Ham (Eggs with pesto and fat chunks of ham mixed in, potatoes on the side)
Le Peep: Sausage skillet (heart attack on a plate)
White trash breakfast places: Two eggs over hard with toast and potatoes
Heartland Cafe: Peach & Cheddar omelette
Salt & Pepper Diner: Cheddar cheese omelette, hash browns, english muffin
If I'm at home and have a lot of time, scrambled eggs with salsa, ham, cheese, salt & pepper, toast and orange juice. If I have no time, cereal. At work, peaches or strawberries & cream oatmeal.
Speaking of... I need to go eat breakfast now before I start chewing on my keyboard.
