[acronym="A very manly man"]Montana[/acronym], if you are that good at finding quotes why not try finding the thread exactly like this from a couple of weeks ago.

"the ladies have been checking me out lately.... could it be the 10 push-ups i've been cranking out every other Sunday? - Perhaps!" -Scrubs Some people are a lot like slinkys... kinda useless, not really good for anything -but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs QUOTE (Hewletts Daughter @ Jan 8 2008, 04:11 PM) "After much thought into this, I have finally come to a conclusion as to why the ‘Meet the Spartans’ commercial is so funny: It is an interesting choice to have Sanjaya sing ‘I’m not gay,’ as his final words on earth. As he is plummeting into a seemingly bottomless pit, he does not say ‘dear god no,’ ‘I love you mom,’ or even simply ‘argh.’ He instead takes the moment to reaffirm to the world, in spite of their doubts, that he is not a homosexual. Not only that, but he continues to sing, despite falling to his certain death. The distinct lack of plausibility of this situation is what produces giggles from our mouth. It is the antithesis to the belief that ‘it’s funny because it is true.’"

Aaaaaaanyway...
Legit thread. I've liked 2008 so far. Genghis Tron, Boris, Black Mountain, Foals, Sunset, Barry Lynn, Constantines, Fuck Buttons, Portishead (although I crave a better version of it) all being very good indeed. Black Mountain and Foals are the standout SOMB type albums, although I think that Sunset has huge appeal for this forum (see NewGrass's thread for link). It reminds me a bit of last years Menomena which is a good thing.

When's that scheduled to officially drop? The Sunset didn't do it for me, but I'm going to give it another shot.

It wouldn't be something that would hit you straight off after one listen. As with most things I guess.

Have only listened to three albums this year, but I dig all three
Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree: Confession: I wasn't that crazy about Goldfrapp until this album. So basically, take the average SOMB sentiment and flip it over. Many will hate this, but I dug the lushness of it.
The Mountain Goats - Heretic Pride: I've listened to this more than any other 2K8 release, which is as much a product of it being the only album on my hard drive currently, as much as anything else. Which isn't to say it's not good, I really like "Autoclave".
Lykke Li - Youth Novels: Awesome pop album. Really catchy and sublimely sexy. I need a physical copy of this.

for the record i believe i my favorite record of 2008 thus far is throw me the statue's moonbeams, but sun kil moon's april could easily trounce that based on my previous love for most things kozelek and the two tracks i've heard thus far.
