Deerhunter- Microcastle

The title track is not my favorite by any means, but I still get chills at 2:25 when it really kicks in...

It's pretty freaky actually. Some tracks have a bit of that Turkish flavor.
You should check it out. I'll upload it when I get a chance.

Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain: L.A.'s Desert Origins
These Matador reissues couldn't be much more generous and nicely assembled.
And this isn't even my favorite of the bunch.

thanks, mb

Great stuff (not a surprise - I love this whole series so far). One thing worth noting is how much more competent the sitar playing is on this set. Figures.

Well,I tried to listen to Blonde on Blonde,But my copy is so fucked up(I used to store discs in those folder things and also play regular discs in car stereos.) that I think it's time to buy a replacement copy. I shudder to think how many older discs of mine have this problem.

Left my iPod at home today - don't want to carry it around a festival in the rain - and after about 10 minutes of sports radio rummaged through my bag to see if anything was in there. This. A free c.d. from Uncut magazine...it'll do for a bit.

Doing some apt. cleaning with the wife and had this one going. Without a doubt the most underrated LP in the GBV catalog. Not to mention one of Pollard's best pieces of art / album covers. The perfect clash of lo-fi vs. hi-fi GBV and all these years later this not only stands up but represents the perfect bridge from where the band had been to where it was heading (regardless of band members). This could actually be the perfect newbie intro to GBV without making someone a pointless and impossible to complete "Best-of." Plus Doug Fucking Gillard.

Sad If I Lost It, I Am A Tree, Bulldog Skin, I Am Produced, Not Behind The Fighter Jet, Choking Tara, Portable Men's Society, Learning To Hunt, Now To War, Jane Of The Waking Universe, etc. Nearly every other song on this record is an arguable Pollard/GBV classic.

And now that I am cleaned up myself, it is time for a beer.

Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps - s/t

Norton Records is reissuing Gene's original Capitol LPs. I just picked this up this afternoon, and it's kicking so much ass right now.
