Yeah, bipolar is currently the new "overdiagnosed" syndrome right now. My brother's a shrink and he says that the number of diagnoses has risen far out of joint with the levels they should be seeing.
Now, that's not saying that the diagnosis isn't correct, just that bipolar might in fact be rarer than some docs think. A second? third? opinion?

OMG that boy can drink.
we endded up talking to the head of the department. ih ope i made a good impression!!
the epi talk was great. beautiful presentation. it ALMOST makes me want to use proportional odds in analysis. almost.

Yeah, re the bipolar thing: it's only a theory right now. He's 4, and we're trying to stay away from medicating him until we're absolutely sure of a diagnosis. Both my wife and I have worked with kids of all ages and mental conditions, including bipolar.
We're moving verrrrry slowly with him until we can figure things out, and hopefully he'll just grow out of it all...but it's been two plus years since all of this started.

wrong thread i know but damn i had a scary dream last night. was hanging with a friend and the mafia came after us, killing my friend and eventually everyone in the house except me (i escaped through a window). after successfully hiding i ended up hanging out with my friends old man and for whatever reason we went back to the house and sure enough these fuckers show up again. this time on my way out the same window an old schoolmate was sitting on the chair in that room. huh? anyways, i booked and ended up walking around a fucked up wooded area that had a warehouse full of bombs and warheads and it was set up like a california grocery drive-thru. after ditching that place i ended up hiding in some bushes and witnessing about five dudes getting gunned down by the yakuza. after the killings one of the yakuza guys found me and took me inside.
i woke up while i was planning my escape.

I've been having lots of dreams where I'm walking down the hall in school, being harassed by bullies. Last week I had one where Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Johnathan Lipnicki, and Lil Bow Wow were pinning me up against a row of lockers and threatening to beat the crap out of me after school. Shit! Didn't my parents know this would happen if they sent me to a middle school just for preteen actos, idols and pop stars? I knew I was getting picked on because I was the only person there who hadn't been on the cover of Tiger Beat, but there was nothing I could do about it.
Everyone there was dressed like it was 1986, too. All the girls had perms and all the guys had tons of gel in their hair. Everyone was wearing jean jackets and neon-colored nylon sweatpants.

I always felt Hannah Montana was the poor man's Lizzie McGuire. Could never really get into Hannah Montana as a show. Though, I unabashedly loved Lizzie McGuire when it was on.
But I am also in favor of more female superheroes. So if Hannah Montana is this generation's Barbara Gordon, I am all for it.
