For anyone who hasn't done so yet, make a game of trying to find this pic hidden in the Apocalypto teaser trailer, if for no other reason than to feed Mel's meglomanical ego. It's in there, i assure you.

I'm invited to post anything in here without restraint, so here's a random Reservoir Dogs question that's been bugging me ever since seeing it again last night: the final scene in the warehouse is a classic "Mexican Standoff," that cinematic homage that Taratino loves so much.

Joe draws on Tim Roth/ Mr. Orange in order to kill "the rat." Mr. White (Harvey Keitel), with mistaken guilt and fealty to Roth, draws on Joe. Nice Guy Eddie Cabot (Chris Penn) draws on Mr. White to protect his pop. THings escalate, shots are fired, and all three drop to the ground.

WHO THE FUCK SHOT CHRIS PENN? ! ? WTF? Was it Mr. Orange from the stairwell? Professor Plum in the Conservatory with the lead pipe?

According to QT, no one. But they didn't realize that until after final cuts and decided to leave it in. Ever since I heard that, the ending has been tainted for me.

Wow. I'm amazed I never noticed it before. That's not some minor, IMDB geek continuity quibble, it's a glaring problem in the script (if you're going to "narrativize" a gun battle, you'd think someone as clever as QT would have thought that one through a little better).

Yup, that taints the ending for me too. Really careless filmmaking.

Well that was quick.

Little more than a week after we reported on Thax’s burgeoning singing career, Tribune reporter Kevin Pang tell us that Thax is hopping a midnight train to Chicago and returning to the city that helped make him semi-quasi-famous.

Apparently, Thax was unable to find a job or continue crashing at the recording studio he called home while living in NYC. He plans to seek employment here and presumably continue his poetry and work on his new music project. You can hear Thax’s collaborations with his friend Matt Mehlan on the duo’s MySpace page.

As we reported earlier, Mehlan’s band Skeletons and the Girl-Faced Boys are set for a free show with Headlights at Empty Bottle on November 20. Mehlan and Thax’s project Chicken and the Chick Flicks are scheduled for an early 6 p.m. show at Beat Kitchen that same evening, according to their MySpace page.

"Unlike Cindy Sheehan who has consistently used her bully-pulpit to discredit the war and destroy our troops' morale, our sole purpose has always been to support the families of our fallen heroes. If Ms. Sheehan and her liberal Hollywood celebrity friends are truly interested in helping our troops, then I invite them to join us Monday evening for dinner."

The founder of Aikido, Master Ueshiba Morihei, was born on December 14,1883. Living in the turbulent time of Japan's modernization, he dedicated himself to establishing a martial art that would meet the needs of contemporary people but would not be an anachronism. The following factors were at the core of Master Ueshiba's primary concerns: an abiding love for traditional martial arts, the care that it not be misunderstood and a deep wish to revive the spiritual quality of budo. He sought to achieve his goal through a relentless quest, given substance by constant training in the martial arts, for the truth of budo throughout the vicissitudes of modern Japenese history.

Ultimately, Master Ueshiba concluded that the true spirit of budo is not to be found in a competetive and combative atmosphere where brute strength dominates and victory at any cost is the paramount objective. He concluded that it is to be realised in the quest for perfection as a human being, both in mind and body, through cumulative training abd practise with kindred spirits in the martial arts. For him only such a true manisfestation of budo can have a raison d'etre in the modern world, and when that quality exists, it lies beyond any particular culture or age. His goal, deeply religious in nature, is summarized in a single statement: the unification of the fundamental creative principle, ki, permeating the universe, and the individual ki, inseparable from breath-power, of each person. Through constant training of mind and body, the individual ki harmonizes with the individual ki, and this unity appears in the dynamic, flowing movement of ki-power which is free and fluid, indestructable and invincible. This is the essence of Japanese martial arts as embodied in aikido.

I just realized I've been listening to this song for about a half hour now.

Secret heart
What are you made of
What are you so afraid of
Could it be
Three simple words
Or the fear of being overheard
What's wrong

Let em' in on your secret heart

IPB Image

Secret Heart
Why so mysterious
Why so sacred
Why so serious
Maybe you're
Just acting tough
Maybe you're just not man enough
What's wrong

Let em' in on your secret heart

This very secret
That you're trying to conceal
Is the very same one
That You're dying to reveal
Go tell her how, how you feel

Secret heart come out and share it
This loneliness, few can bear it
Maybe its got something to do with
Admitting that you just can't go through it alone

Let em' in on your secret heart

This very secret
That you're trying to conceal
Is the very same one
That you're dying to reveal
Go tell her how, how you feel

Let em' in on your secret
Let em' in on your secret
