My mom and I are planning to do a Family Tree, and so far from the background she has given me I can tell you all my maternal Grandparents had it rough. Basically, both grandparents came from mildly wealthy backgrounds, but after the death of their respective parents, both of my grandparents were stripped from their houses, cars, and money by other relatives. My mom was the one that had to endure the most, it's sad she has yet to get the recognition she deserves.

Do we set our clocks back this weekend?
My calender on the wall here and the one at work say that we don't do it here until next Sunday, November 4.
But my computer clock just changed automatically at 2:00 tonight, automatically back to 1:00. I thought it was a mistake and switched it back but now the official board clock (lower right corner) is running an hour behind where it's supposed to be, at least according to
this time.

yeah, it's not supposed to change until after november this year. They moved it back so the country could save money on gas or something.
computers don't know that shit, it's like y2k all over again.
All I know is that it gives me an extra hour of daylight when I'm out on the street delivering.

goddamnit, a boardful of Nick apologists. I expect this from Slackmo, but I must now revoke your "chick w/ best music taste" badge, Velocity. jeebus What the fuck is wrong with this place today???
This wasn't intended to be piling on you, Jimmy, I just have never understood the appeal of Tom Waits the performer. He may be a decent actor and songwriter, but I'm unable to listen to his songs. Some peoples' kneejerk adoration of him (not talking about you) smacks of the emperor's new clothes--that's all. I have this same argument w/ my son all the time so please don't take it personally.

I hear ya, and I still love ya, Velocity. I've had enough Tom Waits talk at this point! I love growler singers and I always have, from Howlin' Wolf to Captain Beefheart to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, I can't get enough of this kinda vocals.

My calender says this was the weekend for the E.U. to fall back an hour.
So we've still got a week in N. America, but the SOMB clock has gone ahead and fallen back an hour anyway. I see they were finally forced to move the servers to a damp basement somewhere in Warsaw.

Yesterday afternoon I left my headlights on all day. Came out to my car late at night and my battery was dead.
Got a jumpstart and was able to drive home just fine. I even went to the grocery store this morning and it started up just fine. But what does this mean for the life of my battery. Is it back to 100% now, or did I just take a year or so off of its life? I really don't know how they work.

It's normal that you found your battery dead until several hours with the lights on. No problem as long as the alternator works. Just check out it's got enough water.
I've been using the same battery for seven years. But yeah, five-six years is enough work for them. It's time to change it.

Just make sure the car runs long enough to fully charge the battery before you let it sit overnight again. Not sure how long "long enough" is.

Ain't about my pistol
Ain't about my boots
Ain't about no northern drives
Ain't about my southern roots
Ain't about my guitars, ain't about my big old amps
"It ain't rained in weeks, but the weather sure feels damp"
Ain't about excuses or alibis
Ain't about no cotton fields or cotton picking lies
Ain't about the races, the crying shame
To the fucking rich man all poor people look the same
Don't get me wrong It just ain't right
May not look strong, but I ain't afraid to fight
If you want to live another day
Stay out the way of the southern thing
Ain't about no hatred better raise a glass
It's a little about some rebels but it ain't about the past
Ain't about no foolish pride, Ain't about no flag
Hate's the only thing that my truck would want to drag
You think I'm dumb, maybe not too bright
You wonder how I sleep at night
Proud of the glory, stare down the shame
Duality of the southern thing
My Great Great Granddad had a hole in his side
He used to tell the story to the family Christmas night
Got shot at Shiloh, thought he'd die alone
From a Yankee bullet, less than thirty miles from home
Ain't no plantations in my family tree
Did NOT believe in slavery, thought that all men should be free
"But, who are these soldiers marching through my land?"
His bride could hear the cannons and she worried about her man
I heard the story as it was passed down
About guts and glory and Rebel stands
Four generations, a whole lot has changed
Robert E. Lee
Martin Luther King
We've come a long way rising from the flame
Stay out the way of the southern thing
