is something technically a meme if it existed before the internet?

"Brainy" might be the only misstep on Boxer. And it is still pretty good.

Somebody start a thread about this whole "pet rocks" thing.

Wow that's freaky. It inspired me to write a soundtrack for it. Look for a link soon - but you have to stare at the picture while you listen.

so, who else besides me has done this in high school?
السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و ب
I did it in middle school. Or, a bunch of family friends did it while I was in middle school, and I kind of paid attention a little.

Well here is what that picture inspired me to write:

Turn it up nice and loud on your home system while staring at that picture or your favorite visualization.

Really surprised I never did it. Many of my friends growing up were huge Floyd fans. They dominated that era as the clear cut coolest band. Waters never compromised for anybody.

I have never done it either. These Roling Stone things are my first view of it.

Listened to Atom Heart Mother today, what you do think of that one? Listened to Meddle a little while back. I was really struck by it's greatness.

I used to hang with a guy named Joe Nagler back in the day. We called him the Nag man (like egg man). What a cool motherfucker. Taught me some great guitar licks. He could jam the WHO on his piano in his frontroom like a badass. He ended up dealing coke and hanging in a biker bar. He was tall and wore a leather with hanging fringes. The coked ended up landing him a string of really hot babes. He was a hell of a Floyd fan. We would sit (with his and my friends The Germanys) and literally talk Floyd for hours. You would have loved the guy.

I like all the songs except for the last one. I pretty much turn it off when that comes on, because I think the first half is basically shit. I really don't want to hear a guy scarfing rice crispies. It's pretty lame.

I have a live version of Atom Hearth Mother from the 1970 BBC Sessions you might enjoy.

hahhaa sounds cool. I never really got along with the coke crowd though. I did enjoy manipulating them while on mushrooms though. I learned alot about addiction.

Sounds like a knowledgable Foyd guy though. And the Who kicks ass.

Shit. You'd love the dudes I grew up with. Huge fans of music. Classic music. The kind you love.

I never got into the coke crowd but the Nag man is now and always will be a legend. Ah, I have lived a charmed fucking life man. I got no reason to complain about nothing. I wouldn't change a damn thing.

Is that the version with the cello instead of the French horn taking the main theme twice? That is a great performance, better than the LP in fact.

Wonderful Rolling Stone, so hip and with it. Next they will talk about Klaatu may or may not be the Beatles. dry.gif They forget to mention Time's alarm clocks ringing off when Ms. Gulch makes her first appearance.

Here's more of the same subject. I've tried Alice In Wonderland, and that's a bit of fun, too. http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Amphi...ovie_syncs.html

But this guy will not acknowledge the possibilities of syncs for any film made after an album's release, so he does not list the sync for Meddle & The Shining (start the CD as soon as the film titles begin, and let the CD repeat 3 times for the length of the film)
Rob Gordon
Did it long ago and been meaning to watch these clips once I read that RS issue.

No matter what one thinks of the interesting coincidences you gotta love the melding of two great and classic touchstones.
