Mr. Inches
I didn't notice, but on a LOST board somebody pointed out that Zeke calls Alex to bring Evangeline Lilly with the burlap sack on her head. Alex is most likely the French lady's kid...
biggie mcsmalls
Already going.

Yeah, Alex is mentioned.

Beardo also quotes Hanso in his talk to Jack and Locke.

I liked the episode, by the way.

It was a pretty good episode
though I was annoyed that Jack didn't say anything like "we don't want to be on your island. How do we get home?"

I don't understand this line of thinking, although it is a popular complaint about the episode.

You are face to face with the people that have murdered, kidnapped, and harassed you & your friends, and are obviously in no position to negotiate, as Beardo was 100% in control of the situation.

Do you really think that you'd ask questions and expect co-operation from the others?

Yeah. "we don't want to be here. More than happy to let you have this island to yourself. how do we get the heck out of here?"
Mr. Inches
Jack totally over reacted as usual... They blew it in my opinion...
Uncle Remus
Yeah, Jack had a really good opportunity to ask some rudimentary questions and say some fairly fundamental things, but decided to be King Swinging Dick instead. I think people will start to realize that trusting in Jack fully is wrong thinking.

I got the impression that any question would have been answered with a "Fuck you. We run this shit." type of response from Beardo.

No way. The guy was ready to talk peacefully, but as soon as Jack got all uppity, claiming that he only had a few people, he changed his tone.

What made you think that?

His tone with the "let's have a chat" thing was very much "now I'm going to tell you how it is," not "I want to figure things out." This guy was totally in control of the situation, knew it, and wasn't going to budge.

I don't think there was any chance that they'd get any useful info out of this guy in this situation.
Uncle Remus
But they could have gotten some answers and some parameters. I think he would have offered that much.
biggie mcsmalls
Maybe. I don't know.

They should have brought Mr. Eko with them.

He would have kicked their asses, got Walt back, and quoted scriptures.
tjenz
I don't think Zeke and the boys would have told Jack how to get off the island, but I think it was kind of dumb for him not to ask.

No way Mr Friendly wants to let the losties go. Don't know why. Maybe he just doesn't want people to find out about his little magnetic paradise.

zeke is pissed that jack and co. moved into their pad, angering him

why did jack not retort

"um, zeke... um, we were in a plane crash"

I don't get why they didn't throwdown, sure someone probably would've died, but those rednecks still had Walt and that was the closest they ever got to them.

At the end, did Jack ask Anna Lucia "how long does it take to train an army?". I thought that
was what I heard. I'm looking forward to this tribal war. I wouldn't think the others have
anyone as bad-ass as Mr. Ekko.

He did ask something like that. Funny how the same concept seems to be shaping up for the following program, "Invasion".
The Good Dr Bill
yeah, given how calm the situation was with Zeke before Jack got all antagonistic, I don't understand for the life of me why he wouldn't have asked any of the following questions:

"Who are you guys?"
"What do you want us to do, exactly?"
"Where's Michael?"
"Where's Walt / Why did you take him?"
"Where are we, exactly?"

Why his first instinct is to go to war is totally beyond reason.
biggie mcsmalls
Yes, because asking about Walt got them so far with these people.
tjenz
obviously Jack is losing it and he's going to take a bunch of losties with him
Uncle Remus
Jack obviously has a God complex...with all of the other philosophical/religious underpinnings, I'm not surprised by the idea of Jack leading the castaways on some sort of "crusade."

i agree w/ hickie. i don't think beardo would have told him much in the end, but jack was acting like a b!tch.
ginNY
I think Jack assumed that b/c they were on the island and Zeke obviously had been there a long time (see beard) that they didn't know how to get off the island or where they were so he didn't bother to ask.

I think the whole "building the army" thing is so lord of the flies...who's got the conch?

i'm not speaking towards whether or not it was a SURPRISE, but it was annoying to watch...but yeah...it fits his character and the back story that was occuring in the episode.

Don't know. They're from the promo pics for a future episode from lost-media.com. Looks like Sun is getting attacked by one of the Others.

What's up with Locke suddenly deciding to spring Sawyer's "real" name on him (and us)?

(I liked his alias, the 'Tom Sawyer' connection was not lost on me.)

My guess is they are getting ready to reveal that Locke's dad is the Sawyer that James Ford has been looking for.

The Good Dr Bill
no more Charlie/Claire episodes ever, please
kingsleadhat
Cmon, Charlie's gonna turn into Vader now! Fuckin Darth Vader!
KENAN THOMPSON
Locke has a slave in Charlie now that he has all those drugs.

edit: Locke=Palpatine?
The Good Dr Bill
I did like how Charlie symbolically put his hood on at the end of the episode...slipping into darkness...

How long until Locke starts bunking up with Claire, do you think? Two weeks? A month? Bout damn time, anyway.
rowsdower
The only good thing about last nights episode? When Locke punched Charlie in the face.
Uncle Remus
I'll agree that last night's show was definitely its weakest.
biggie mcsmalls
So, is Charlie the first survivor to have the "sickness" that Frenchie talked about?

Pretty lame episode, apart from aforementioned punch to Charlie's face.

Watching him sing was kind of fun, though. dry.gif
Hips
i didn't think last nights show was too bad. charlies back story was alright....but hell, seein a bunch of grown men in diapers singin and bopping around made it pretty fun. for a while i was thinking the hobbit was back on the white pony...i was waiting for him to start writing a concept album or something while snorting junk in the forest.

although it wasn't action packed once again it sticks to the Lost format...one episode with action and answers and the next usually the heartwarming backstory with a twist.

Same problem I had with Hurley going nuts in that other ep...not enough motivation being conveyed. Why should Charlie start flipping out suddenly, having been clean for X amount of days? (Yeah, Claire kicks him out, but is that justified in deciding to light fires and attempt a clandestine baptism?). And how desperate did Liam REALLY have to be to sell his brother's' beloved piano? MEH.

Watch for those Mary statues to serve as a bargaining chip with the Tailies later.
tjenz
Last night was pretty weak. I think they are setting Charlie up to be the boy who cried wolf.

Why was Eko putting an X on those trees?

I'm betting Hurley knows Libby from the nut house. Where she was a fellow patient.

"you hitting that?"

Charlie is Darth Vader, Locke is the Emperor, Hurley is Jabba the Hutt. Sawyer is Han Solo, Kate is Princess Lia, Walt is Luke...
just kidding

No waitaminute. Don't knock that. We have gone this road before, and it seems to be coming together again. Sawyer actually called Hurley "Jabba" last night. huh.gif I'd actually make Locke Obi-Wan Kenobi. Eko=Yoda?

I like that Libby noticed the new washer/dryer in the hatch.

Why didn't Locke destroy the statues/heroin????

I believe herion has medicinal purposes that could be very useful to the group. I can't believe they are going to kidnap the Chinese lady.

Things are gonna get hot now.

Charlie is a complete asshole. Smarmy little liar. I hope they beat his ass down and put him in a pit.

How HOT is Ana Lucia? I mean? HOW HOT!?!?!!?!?!
tjenz
Charlie has an addictive personality.
He was addicted to heroin. Then he was addicted to Claire/Aaron.
The losties never really saw him going through heroin withdrawl, but they are seeing him go through Claire/Aaron withdrawl.
