The 45th St. in the city doesn't go to Melrose Park, of course. But Melrose Park has both a 45th Ave and a 45th Pl. It's essentially Lake St and Mannheim Rd. I go by there every day on my way home from work.

In high school we had this extended substitute teacher who was just the most perfect target for asshole high school kids -- the dude carried around pro wrestling magazines and spent his weekend travelling to see Junkyard Dog and Superfly Snuka wrestle at state fairs -- about 10 years past their prime mind you.

One day we're driving home and see Mr. O in the car next to us. We've gotta see where he lives, right? So we start tailing him but he gets wise. He pulls a last minute turn into a subdivision and whips around a couple blocks doing like 50. But we keep on him and catch him whipping up a drive way and into a garage as quick as humanly possible.

Next day, when he's out of the room, we write real big on the chalk board "Kegger Tonight" with his address. I guess he didn't know who it was tailing him cause he doesn't say anything and just erased it.

So on the way out that night, two car loads of kids pull into his drive and start pounding on the door asking where the keg is. All the lights go dark and you can just feel the guy wishing we'd go the hell away and leave him to watch his Wrestlamania tapes in peace.

Something about this thread reminds me of that.
