Los Angeles Lakers is almost as bad as the Utah Jazz. Minnesota Lakers, that made sense.
Of course, Washington Redskins is reprehensible.
Minnesota Wild is a terrible name, but damn, their uniforms are nice.
Actually, the worst trend was the whole 90s idea of giving minor league baseball teams goofy Toledo Mudhens-type names. Sort of like those Cincinnati and Houston ballparks...quirky for the sake of being quirky.

Does Minor League Baseball count? They seem to have run out of ideas, thus the West Tenn. Diamond JAXX, who I've only heard of because they're a Mariners' farm team.

Also, pro-Lacrosse is pretty awful. My town's Lumberjax (what's with the jax thing, anyways?) and the Chicago Shamrox are equally terrible.
In real sports, I give the award to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for too much information...but only because the Expos are no more.

Tampa Bay is just the Rays now.
If we include colleges, worst name by far is the Presbyterian College Blue Hose.

Is the mascot a blue garden hose? I'm intensely curious.

I was there for one year, so I can't recall the connection, but it's a Scottish thing.
