This show was great. Now it's really starting to fucking blow. The start of this season was fucked because it didn't pick up immediately after the fire. The chief dying was terrible because the new chief is the worst actor and has an invisible personality. It's gotten ridiculous with the over top exaggerations like Tommy's sister Maggie having Vodka stores all around the house and a box of fuckin' porn. I can go on and on about this.

Bye bye Rescue Me you have jumped the ole' shark.
sin city
yeah, I pretty much delisted it from my Tivo the second that Chief offed himself. This went from one of my favorite shows to not on my radar in about 3 episodes.

I whole heartedly disagree. The Garrity/Maggie fights are hilarious. Not enough Maggie this season. A nice shocker a couple weeks ago with the suicide. I still need to see season 1. GREAT show

I pretty much stopped watching over a season a go. I read a commentary in the Watcher column in the Tribune where Maureen Ryan said that last year there was a scene where Tommy basically raped his wife, and she eventually gave in and enjoyed it. Was Maureen Ryan overstating/misinterpreting the scene, or is that pretty accurate? If so, that's pretty reprehensible...even for fiction.

Hero
how unoriginal is it to put "wtf" in the 2nd subject line?
C'mon be more creative than that

That's fairly accurate. How is that reprehensible? I mean, these two have been married and had kids forever, he wanted to give it to her hard no matter what, and she ultimately got turned on by it. It's fucked up, that's a given but I don't think it lowers any standard that may be out there for tv. If shit can happen it can be written.

Well I didn't see it so I'm probably not the best person to criticize the scene, but it's reprehensible because it perpetuates the attitude that women are asking for it in certain circumstances. Of course, you can make the same argument that the Soprano's perpetuate the "attitude" that mob hits are a legitimate way to handle business disputes, so I see your point.

That said, I think my problem with the Rescue Me scene may also be an extension of things I've read about Dennis Leary. I've heard repeatedly that he's an arrogant insecure asshole, especially when it comes to women; so I have to wonder whether the scene is truly fiction or if the lines between fiction and reality are blurred.

I didn't buy the "jump the shark" thing until the recent developments, but holy hell are you guys right. Woefully disappointing.

Yeah, I officially gave up 5 minutes into the last episode. Ridiculous.

Yeah, even the greatest show on tv is lacking a little bit this year. That being said, it still runs circles around anyother bullshit you probably watch.

If you wants flowers and happy-go-lucky, go somewhere else, go watch Legally Blonde 2 again, punk.

Even with all the speculation of the he-said, he-said behind the scenes that is purported to be the reason for the chief's offing, it doesn't matter. What matters is that is defied all expectations and shocked all, pissed off many, and frankly caused a major controversy.

If you want something that is predictable and the same old crap, go even further into your DvD library and maybe watch Legally Blonde 1.
Music Saves
Is Artie Lange good in it though? I don't watch the show, but hear him talk about his role a lot on Stern.
nosmokeinthelungs
he has 3 scenes so far, practically miniscule.

All that said, it's still not really watchable.

It's not better than anything else I watch either. Big Love and John from Cincinnati are both better despite the fact John was canceled.
