They're bringing this glorious noise to the Triple Rock Social Club on 7th November. Can. Not. Wait.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!
I was just about to check for some upcoming TC dates. Thanks for the heads up. I think I officially have a 'most anticipated fall show'.
See you there, you wonderful man.

gonna give this album a try. i never got into "up in flames" other than a few tunes from it. i think i liked the follow up a bit more. i really like this "melody day" single. good song. love the artwork for it. i think it looks much better than the album's artwork. they should have switched those.

i feel it my duty to inform all of you that this is the album of the summer.
i'm not saying it's #1 of the year or anything, but if you don't listen to it 'til September then you've missed the boat.

Yeah, this and Earth -
Hibernaculum are perfect for hanging out w/teh sunshine and grass and sprinklers.

Covers of outdoors shit are the shit, shit. Yeah.
And "She's The One," holy hell. And "Desiree." Good, good songs. Every day that I listen to this album is a
melody day, indeed.

Can anyone up 'Up in Flames'. It's supposedly their best and the only album I don't have.

Jul 30 2007, 10:50 PM
I've listened to this a handful of times, but the only song that really struck me was "Melody Day" Absolutely fucking fantastic song, one of the best of the year, likely, but I can't seem to get much into the rest. I'll have to give it some more spins.

Jul 31 2007, 08:15 PM
Shit, this is good. And, as good as this is, it begs the question--just how good, then, is Up In Flames? This one, though...it's exceptional. I'd add "After Hours" to the hype list. Good stuff. Over three months away, but I'm already so psyched for this Triple Rock show.

Feeling so good about Mr. Snaith, that I've upped that "Boreal Forest Opper" track. Still, probably my favourite single track of his. It's from the "Yeti" single.
"Boreal Forest Opper"Oh, and I've softened my stance on
The Milk of Human Kindness considerably. Just listened to it while making my lunch and it's a keeper. Fits in well with the canon.
Caribou. Fuck Handsome Dick Manitoba.

Yeah, Battles = huge right now. Caribou... Andorra is about to blow up like something fierce, I know it. And it's so much better than the Battles album. But Snaith has never had anywhere near the amount of buzz that Battles has gotten this year.
You know, I wouldn't mind being able to go to this show.

Have you caught Battles live? I will admit to having eliminated all but, like, four of their songs from my iPod ("Race:In", "Atlas", "Tonto", and "Tij"). I think I would like to catch these guys live, but could see where an entire set could be a tedious endeavor.
That said, I'm absolutely looking forward to that Caribou show at the Triple Rock Social Club.

I saw Battles at P-Fork with simakos. I thought it was cool for a little while, but then it all sounded like the same annoying caliope jam/lunatic asylum music after twenty minutes. They are tight and all of that, but this is not my type of music...I like things that are melodic, so there isn't a lot there for me to grab on to.

not the best sound on this, but i fear that Caribou is turning into a regular rock band... i was kinda shocked by this clip and how the energy just isn't there like on past tours with 2 drummers. but it might just be this song or the fact that they are outside rather than inside a dark little club. anyway...

Just got back from Cheapo with the 180-gram Andorra LP. I opened the gatefold and showed the artwork to the two toddlers in the back seat (my son and my buddy's daughter)...they dug it.
Picked up the "Melody Day" CD single at Music Saves, in Cleveland, while on tour with Dolly Varden. That Four Tet/Adem remix is pretty cool.
Caribou. I think "Eli" is my current favourite off the new one.

It's pretty great, though.
"She's The One" and "Melody Day" are just these fucking sublime pop things... gah. They almost render the entire concept of Elephant 6 completely worthless. Almost.
"Niobe" works as a closer in a really similar way to "Happy Audio" on Endless Summer, I've realized.
