yeah, it is deserving of it's own thread for sure... surprised i didn't start one. i was emailing snaith like crazy this past spring trying to find out what was going on with a new record.
also want to add that Caribou/Manitoba is still the best "electronic" live show i have ever seen. he knows how to make things entertaining: 2 drummers, video in sync with music, animal masks, and lots of volume.

I agree, their shows are exhilarating. It's always fun to see how they translate and enhance the new material live. They're coming my way in November, so I'll be there to see them a third time.

It's great.
"Melody Day" is sissy indie neo psych pop done right and not sissily and gosh, it's good.
I liked it so much that I bought Up In Flames during the Virgin clearance sale, which is also the fucking tits. A more logical continuation of the sonically ball crushing, psychedelic wonderfulness of 90s landmarks such as Zaireeka and Boces than a whole lot of what the Lips and the Rev have done since those puppies.
Every music person on the planet should be getting in line to have this dude produce their fuckin' ass.

I approve off this thread. I approve of this album. He has moved from creating brilliant textures and rhythms to just writing some stunning songs (with brilliant textures and rhythms).
Although "Up in Flames" may have more magic to it, this has some killer tunes.

Holy shit, that was
you?? I picked it up, walked around with it, then put it back when I decided I was spending too much money. Then I came back a few days later and did the same thing, only this time my reason for putting it back was that I figured I wasn't that big a Caribou fan and could do without it. But I was still unsettled. After tossing and turning all night, I went back the next day to actually buy it, only to find that some asshole beat me to it. I'm glad you were that asshole.

I need this record. Up In Flames is a masterpiece. Milk of Human Kindness? Not so much. It's actually not that great, but it helped spwan that "Boreal Forest Opper" track--which is simply one of my favorite songs of...ever (from the "Yeti" single), so it can't be completely disreagarded.
Still...I sense a massive comeback with this new one. Can't wait. Looking forward to spending some quality time with this one on the road.

Funny, I normally have your back (or vice versa) in cases like this (like, when folks trash

Milk of Human Kindness kills. But I don't detect any lactose intolerance in this thread--no hate. Just simple acknowldgement of the fact that

i guess for me, Milk is so good because it was my first exposure to Caribou. i picked it up when it came out and was drawn in and branched out from there. Yes, it's the weakest Caribou disc, but overall, it is very, very solid.
despite these differences, i assume we will still have each others backs or something
