I was thrilled when Ricky Gervais announced that he was going to continue the podcasts series, and I was even comitted to shelling out the pocket change that he claimed it would cost to subscribe, but I see on ITunes that it's going to cost $3 (Canadian) to listen to each 1/2 hr episode. With all of my money going towards school, and the odd morsel of food, I may have to bow out. Ahh well...fun time's over. Anyone going to bother listening anymore?

i dont like bating up on people, but is Karl whoever funny? Listened to him on radio 2 sitting in for Jonathan ross over christma, yeah he's quirky, yeah he 's strange, but funnioest shit on radio in Uk is TalkSport. Mike pArry, Alan Brazil, Paul Breen Turner, Mike Dikin. that is funniest shit comsistently. Alan brazil now preents with graham beeky becroft and its funny, but when he was partnere with Mike Parry, funniest radio i ever heard, listen to them every morning on my way to work.

Doesn't $3 per half hour seem a bit much? I was thinking maybe $1 would be appropriate, as there's no packaging or media to worry about. This is kinda disappointing.

Don't worry about him, his job at XFM has left him quite well off. He lives in central London so he has a few pennies to rub together.

Thanks for the reminder, Gareth. Haven't listened yet, though. I have finally downloaded all of the XFM episodes and am afraid to admit that I am now obsessed with the brain that is encapsulated in that head of Karl's. Fascinating stuff.

hey mitchell, did you win a contest of theirs back in the day? i was listening to the old XFM broadcasts and I thought I heard them mention your name as a winner of song of phrase. It was kinda weird. I thought you won executive decision on vhs or something like that.
i have really been digging the old xfm broadcasts

Yeah, that was me winning Songs of Phrase. I won some good stuff actually;
Life on Other Planets by Supergrass,
Live Forever Soundtrack,
Happiness and
Citzien Smith series 1&2 on DVD as well as some car stickers and a mouse mat.
Scotland Rocks! went straight down Record and Tape exchange though
It was also me that phoned up about Karl Pickle-ton in the jar if you've heard that one. My claim to fame, I made Gervais piss his pants laughing four years ago.
I also have some e-mails from Karl about monkeys from a couple of years ago.
A book about DilkingtonGood stuff on the old shows. Really funny moments that have reduced me to tears.

wow, that's pretty incredible. didn't that scotland rocks have texas on it though? man, how could you turn that in?
i haven't heard karl pickle-ton in the jar, but i'm looking forward to it now. any idea what the date of that show was, hopefully i have it. i do have a good amount of them.
are those emails from karl hilarious or what? is it like educating mitchell or something?
being an american, i listened to the podcasts first, but you are right, it is way better hearing them talk about certain stuff for the first time on xfm. it kind of seems like karl might be a little bit in on the joke now, but back then it honestly seemed like he wasn't.

Karl defintely plays up to how stupid he is on the subjects they've touched on before but he can always come up with some fresh
merde.
The show was on 6th April 2002
Here's the best one in reply to

I don't think it harms monkeys as much though......They say smoking kills
120,000 people a year in the UK....people. NOT Monkey's.
Cheers for that.

I've noticed a handful of things here and there, the best being when they're talking about how much they love Bowie.
Never noticed two in one episode before, much less right next to each other.
