Forget it. Found this on P-fork:
Scott Walker Instrumental Album Due Next Month
Wait, another Scott Walker album? So soon?
Yep, so soon. It's not exactly The Drift II, but on September 24 in the UK, 4AD will release Scott Walker's And Who Shall Go to the Ball? And What Shall Go to the Ball? in a very limited, never-to-be-pressed again edition. Despite a mouthful of a title, ...the Ball? is a 25-minute-long, four-movement instrumental suite. It emerged out of Walker's score for a dance piece by choreographer Rafael Bonachela's dance company CandoCo. CandoCo, comprised of both able-bodied and physically disabled dancers, debuted the piece at Manchester, England's Contact Theatre in April.
Walker said of the music and its relationship to the unique troupe: "Apart from a slow movement given over to solitude, the music is full of edgy and staccato shapes or cuts, reflecting how we cut up the world around us as a consequence of the shape of our bodies. How much of a body does an intelligence need to be potentially socialised in an age of ever-developing AI [artificial intelligence]? This is but one of many questions that informed the approach to the project."
Scott has a bunch of UK tour dates plotted throughout Septem-- no, no he doesn't. Gotcha! There are, however, a number of CandoCo performances of the ...Ball? piece on the way, which we've lined up after the jump.

Did anybody get a chance to see the documentary, Scott Walker: 30 Century Man?
I'm hoping that it eventually gets a screening in Chicago or is released on DVD.

I don't even think this documentary has been screened for more than a few times. A Chicago date is bound to come up before year's end.

Perfect moviegoing weather that week; cool, damp, gray, screenings were full (half-past-midnight at the Olympion) and dangerously over-crowded (John Cassavetes cinema - see below) and was told that at a breakfast discussion the following day, people were debating whether or not the film was actually an elaborate hoax…does Scott Walker really exist or have I made him up? I’ll take that as a compliment.

Not sure. All I know is it's not a Jay Reatard post and it is on the SOMB - and that can only be a good thing.

Nobody said anything about Jay Reatard, though! This is a Scott Walker thread, for one thing. And Bowie was mentioned earlier in the thread, along with evidence that Bowie is, in my words, a "wanker."
I don't go into your Flaming Lips threads and say, "Man, fuck the Eagles." Sort of a cheap, desperate move, right?
EDIT: Also, this thing is great. I'm all about Walker going all-out with the modern classical composition thing. He's actually doing some really awesome stuff here, adding saxophone and weird loops and shit to the bleak post-apocalyptic string jamz. One of the most creative dudes around. And it all sounds incredible, of course. The final sustained string note of "Pt. 4" is the same as the beginning of "Cossacks Are," which is what my iTunes went to right after it ended. It was quite the seamless transition, it was.

I knew it was about Reatard. Look dude, don't let the whole faux British accent thing bother you. It is what it is. Just enjoy the music.
People say the Eagles suck to me all the time. It's nothing to get upset about. It's just a music snob forum.

The production on here, as well as that on The Drift and Tilt, is so damn awesome. It all sounds like it's happening right in front of you. And the quiets are really quiet, and the louds are really loud. No compression on these Walker albums. I'm so down with that.

i like it for what it is.
i wish it was longer though. i love the way he works with ambiance on this little record. the first track is awesome. sounds like aliens are invading the earth or something. i'd love to see walker recording more of this stuff. longer and possibly giving it an ambient mood through this quiet/loud juxtapositions. it'd kick ass.

I absolutely love the way he plays with silence here, especially on the first track. I've already said it elsewhere, but it's very much the opposite of what he did with the noise blocks on The Drift. I think this album really benefits from coming so soon after the Drift. I kept expecting the first track to burst into insanity and scare me, but it never did. It just makes the eventual climax that much more amazing.
