It's new, that's for sure. It is indeed boxier. The text is smaller than I'm used to, too. I'm sure it's just a matter of tweaking things a little. What do you think of Quick Edit?

Jan 22 2006, 08:06 PM
Think we need a new leaks thread. I would start one, but I feel like I should have something to contribute if I'm starting one...
P.S. Quick edit is pretty neat.

Yes, but then how will we get everyone's attention when something hot drops? There's little incentive to click on a generic leak thread. The specific subject lines let you know what you're in for and, I think, ease the process.

THE KNIFE ARE BACK FOR 2006
The Knife will return with a new album "Silent Shout" in March 2006. The first single, also called "Silent Shout" will be out digitally January 16th. A 12" with nice remixes will be released by the end of the month. The video is made by Andreas Nilsson who did the "Heartbeats" video and the visuals for The Knife's one and only live performance in London last year.

Getting it off the bird right now. The single certainly did strike my fancy. Seems like they've dropped the whole "pop sensibilities" thing. I hope the Swedes like their synth-pop dark and depressing.

easily solved:
a "new releases" leak thread, and a "past gems" leak thread.
That was spooky, I dodn't even read this thread until now.

I really like it. It's quite dark and spacy, isn't it? "We Share Our Mother's Health," "Like a Pen," "Neverland," and "Marble House" are the standouts to me.

After a full listen: well, I didn't really like the old one a whole either, so I guess I should have expected this. The potential singles are okay, but not nearly as good as those on Deep Cuts. No chance for top 50 albums, but other tracks besides the title track have a chance of top singles if released.

Bump.
So has everyone forgotten this one already? This has grown on me a lot in the last month. I think I might like it more than Deep Cuts even. I love the sort of eerie vibe throughout the whole thing. I feel pretty comfortable saying that this will end up in my top ten for the year.

Any chance of a re-up? I've been waiting to hear this one for awhile. Deep Cuts was one of my favorites of 2003 and I'm hoping for the same in 2006 with Silent Shout.
Also, for those of you who are fans of The Knife's past work, how does this one line up?

Other than individual songs from Deep Cuts, Silent Shout was the first that I'd heard from the Knife, and I love it. Just way cool sounding.
Finally being issued domestically on 7/25. Not that it should stop you freeloading downloaders.

:::A MESSAGE FROM THE ONE OF THE TECHNO GODS:::
I think people are blinded by this records good reviews. Although Silent Shout (the song) is really good, the whole album is just ok. I find myself not wanting to listen to it all, a few tracks here and there but not a straight through. The remixes are kinda good though. The remixes of silent shout were fairly ho-hum, the Shinedoe remix (totally revamping the song into nothing special) being the only one that was worth anything. But the Trentmoller remix of "we share our mothers health" is really good. Standard Trentmoller, really good liquidy house, but the use of the songs original melody is a huge plus as that melody sounds better with a 4/4 then with that freestylish beat the original mix has. In fact I'll just post the song right now, you can thank me whenever you get the chance.
