Album title of the year, obvs. Wish I could find a bigger image of the cover. This is the new Electric Six, for those that don't already know.

I know there was already sort of a thread for this album, but I couldn't die happy unless I made one with this title. It's like my new mantra or something. Good night.
Gluehead
I listened to the new Foo Fighters album before hearing this and it was like an oasis in the desert to hear such a cheerfully dumb fun album after that awful overwrought mess. I've always been a fan of Electric Six, I think there is a very smart and talented pop band underneath all the jokey lyrics and this album's no exception, stuff like 'Dance Pattern' and 'Dirty Looks' are really well constructed songs that just happen to have very silly lyrics. If you're in the mood for some mindless fun you could do worse than this.
The Curse Of Millhaven
It seems like just yesterday that Fire came out. I got some catching up to do.

hey everyone, download this because as far as i'm concerned, Electric Six is yet to release a dud of an album

upon review of this disc for the past week, it's not great, but it does have some classic E6 tunes.

basically the beginning of the disc is gold and the end sort of is crap. but nothing will take away the awesomeness of "Down at McDonellzzz," "Feed My Fuckin' Habit," "White Train," "When I get to the Green Building," and then the one-two punch of "Randy's Hot Tonight!" and "Kukuxumusu."

Actually, "Kukuxumusu" pretty much is reason, alone, to listen to this disc.

OH MY GOD!

This man knows. I'm all about some "Dance Pattern" along with the more obvious hits like "Randy" and "McDonnellzzz." Looking forward to this show. Gore Gore Girls should be pretty great openers.
HewlettsDaughter
yeah, i probably should buy my ticket to this soon

if i were to miss an E6 show, well, i dunno what i'd do with myself

So Electric Six continues to be workhorses who toil in obscurity to many. They've got but another album coming out this year. I'm excited if only for 'Gay Bar Part Two.' Deets below....

Electric Six Announces the Impending Release of "Flashy"

Electric Six, in conjunction with Metropolis Records, is proud to officially announce the North American release of our fifth record, entitled "Flashy", on Oct. 21 of this year. Release dates in other territories will follow.

"Flashy" was recorded at the Colonel's very own Hamtramck Sound Machine studios.

The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Gay Bar Part Two
2. Formula 409
3. We Were Witchy Witchy White Women
4. Dirty Ball
5. Lovers Beware
6. Your Heat is Rising
7. Face Cuts
8. Heavy Woman
9. Flashy Man
10. Watching Evil Empires Fall Apart
11. Graphic Designer
12. Transatlantic Flight
13. Making Progress

A music video for "Formula 409" was recently shot in Detroit, Michigan and should be made available for consumption within a couple weeks.

For now, you can hear the entire record, all 13 songs at once, on our myspace page. And we are delighted to preview one track, "Transatlantic Flight" by its lonesome. This is a very important song.

the new song, 'Transatlantic Flight' ain't really doing it for me now. But such is life. 'Gay Bar Part Two' dudes. It'll be where it's @.

Seems far too soon on the heels of Exterminate, considering half of its bloated tracklist is unmemorable. I hope they wrote more actual songs this time.

That should be Montana's title for his autobiography. tongue.gif

Judging by past Electric Six albums, this will have one or two quintessential jams, two pretty great tracks, maybe one or two 'growers' and the rest will be rubbish

Regardless, 'Gay Bar Part Two' as an opener just sounds bombastic enough to be amazing.

New song on their Myspace is pretty rubbish, though. Not a promising sign. Whatever, I'll still listen.

The title reminds me of a more intense phrasing of Yo La Tengo "I'm not afraid of you and I will beat your ass".

you're a good man, Gluehead

I listened to 'Formula 409' a few weeks ago and thought it was a pretty choice cut.

Time to hear a few awesome songs and probably a couple real stinkers. As is typically the case with most of the Electric Six canon.

Kicker Of Elves
Good thing there are people who love E6 on this board because I had no idea this was coming out and I love E6. I can't believe how quickly they come out with new albums. It's kind of ridiculous. Anyway, thanks for the up. Very excited to hear Gay Bar Part Two. biggrin.gif

Yeah when you listen to an Electric Six album you pretty much know what you're going to get and this one is no different, it's another pretty solid addition to their body of work with some great songs to add to their live show along with some completely forgettable tracks that you'll probably never listen to again. And "Gay Bar Part 2" I found surprisingly good, I was a little worried how they'd approach a sequel like that but I think they did it in a pretty funny way.
