Glowing review over at stylus today, but I can't really tell from reading it whether I'd like this stuff. Review was all over the place. Who's got the lowdown? NME hypepiece or the real deal?
Stop Breathin'
I didn't mean THIS gentle.
Mitchell
NME barely know who this band is.

That's a good sign, eh?
Mitchell
Not if they want people to buy their records, if you mean that they aren't as shit as Hard-Fi yes.

I listened to the entire double-CD on Rhapsody last night, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Lots of variety, lots of "let's see if this works" fucking around that's been missing from British music since the late 90s peak of Beta Band, Radiohead, Spiritualized, et al. The comparisons to late 80s British music are apt as well, i.e. Madchester.
HandBanana
You guys need to give this another listen.
Its held up really well over the last year for me.
BobtheSquid
Yeah, still loving this. It was my No.1 last year.
Sickpup
The NME passed on these guys for good reason.

Totally inconsequential nonsense.
Mitchell
I enjoyed the first one / two, whatever. This latest album is doing very little for me though. I don't recommend it at all.

Latest album? Did they release something new this year?
Mitchell
New album "Lightbulbs" released last month.

Not a big fan tbh.

Not finding anything about it. Are you thinking Fujiya & Miyagi?
Mitchell
Yes, that will teach me to post without reading things that early in the morning. I thought this thread was on F+M? Whoops!
