Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello and Zack de la Rocha performed an acoustic version of "Bulls on Parade" on Friday in Los Angeles during a rally attended by 3,500 striking Writers Guild of America members. "You're going to get everything you need and [the producers] are going to get everything they deserve," de la Rocha told the crowd. Click here to check out pictures from the event, which also featured Morello performing a "union song."

as if this was some sort of serious strike. and de la Rocha doesn't even take into account that the bigger whores are the big name stars and directors taking top dollar off the grosses.
Nick
Everything is fairly swell in the world right now so if you're a band like Rage you have to take what you can get in terms of protest, right?
BobtheSquid
Yeah, those writers and their crazy demands to be paid for what they do. Not serious at all.
yancy
It does seem a bit hollow to bring the guerrilla rock for striking white collar workers.
Nick
I'm really curious to look into the working conditions (which I hear are abysmal) that the writers for David Letterman & Jay Leno toil through on a daily basis.

This is all b/c of RatM calling attention to the issue.
Hero
Morello & de la Rocha are walking a fine line.
they are really coming off as people who protest just to protest
seriously- moths to a flame bad

i wonder who else spends all their free time doing that....

The Nightwatchman would be a great new deej username.

4 cents a DVD for something they wrote the foundation for is a scam, regardless of other payments.

Do you even understand the strike?

Ugh, I'm all for the writers' strike and am a massive supporter of unions, but this ain't exactly oppressed coal miners. Maybe De La Rocha should be worrying about all the non-unionized Wal-Mart workers instead.

I'm not saying that the strikers reasons for doing so isn't right, but just that de la Rocha's categorization of the strike is a bit misguided. I'm on the side of the writers on this. the business set up this model where they get paid residuals and if the internet or DVDs are going to be additional revenue, they deserve to get paid for it.

I'm onboard if they write new songs for the cause.

"NBC SHOULD BE TRIED AS WAR CRIMINALS FOR NOT PAYING 30 ROCK WRITERS RESIDUALS FOR NEW MEDIA CONTENT ON NBC.COM"

If Zack starts wearing a black-on-red silhouette Tina Fey t-shirt, I will support this protest wholeheartedly. I think we're all glossing over one big piece of news here: acoustic "Bulls on Parade"?

I hear they have to score their own cocaine.
SatanicCuckooClock
well, it's at least comforting to know that the people who write "House" are getting entertained. dry.gif Have they got a new album coming out or something?

Bhickman just got a the whole lot of writers to scream in his face....(you guessed it)

Everything is fairly swell in the world? And here I was thinking we were in the middle of a 400 billion dollar war we were talked into based on a bunch of lies. silly me. smile.gif

Take away America's TV and you might have some people noticing the issues, cause....the revolution will not be televised (It may however have a neat podcast with neat intro music)
But seriously, how am I supposed to keep the laughs coming when I have nothing to soothe me after the 6 o'clock news and it's oodles of fun(Inflation, trade gap, the US basketball team, riquelme)? I need my Tina Fey fix people! Aww fuck it, It's not like I don't watch WTTW 90% of the time. tongue.gif

But yes, De La Rocha is irrelevant.
I wish China had unions (Peoples Party my ass).

I've said it before and I'll say it again;

Rage Against the Machine is Audioslave without a decent lead singer.

And Audioslave sucked donkey balls all day and all night.

Hey lurker why don't you get a better understanding of my board personality before wasting a post d-bag.
Uncle Remus
yeah...Nick's comment had all the earmarks of sarcasm. Not slamming the comment, but there was nothing subtle about it. The person not knowing it was sarcasm obviously has some sort of mental problem.

does anyone else keep reading that first line as 'i'm all for stalking waiters?'

i keep clikcing on this thread expecting a classic hickman thread but it doesn't deliver.

400 billion, shouldn't that read 1500 billion?

aren't Rage Against the Machine rich enough to become Republicans by now???

i'm curious how they act inside the privacy of their own homes
-hiring illegals to do their yards
-stiffing the maids (both ways)
-telling their cooks to fuck off when they ask for raises
