i got a promo and am yet to listen to it. its sitting here on my desk alongside some Love of Everything, Tony Hussle, and Metal Hearts promos. maybe ill listen soon...
Duff.
Just heard that one song on Q101. Something about "Your Body," I don't know. The music's pretty cool, the vocals kinda suck, and the chorus is just abysmal. Maybe they're other songs are better, though.

yea, they're a band i really wanted to like but i saw their appearance on carson daly and thought they were a joke. from the ironic mustaches to the horrible lyrics. not my taste. oh well.
_______
i saw them last week. i went to see Oxford Collapse open up and stuck around for these guys. my friend and i couldn't last more than 2.5 songs and even that was stretching it.

now they are my enemies. i hate them and their ass faces.

hope someone kills them soon?

terrible....

they are everything that's wrong with rock and roll personified
Some Girl
not very good.

pop- punk laced indie rock with too many hints of interpol. it's nothing new and not worth buying, so i'll offer the d/l to anyone who wants to hear. 'nobody move, nodody get hurt' is the first single along with "it's a hit." i only like 'cash cow' and 'textbook' from the album but 'textbook' clearly rips off the bassline from the cure's 'close to me.' here's the album: hppp://s62.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0A3TR6WUC4BL52GX6SY9488JR4

brooklyn vegan has their old albums up for d/l if anyone takes to liking the band. i admit, i only investigated the album because the guys have pretty good personalities in interviews, jokesters and all.
amotin
They pretty much hit the same notes as HardFi, Hot Hot Heat, etc. Good in small doses and/or if you're in the mood for that sort of thing.

i'm not going to kid around about that any more. i will say that once their band crumbles in the next few months they'lll do quite well at any fast food establishment.

that's kind of exactly what i thought too.

They can join the great "Should have an EP" group after a couple of months this is starting to climb the UK album charts.
MadroXXX
I like them. It's probably because the bassist is funny as hell.
r.i.p.
Yeah, I like this band. Wanna fight about it? One of the few bands that I've seen live that makes worthwhile stage banter. There's a reason comics like this band. (akiva schaffer directed the video. the ditzy blonde from 30 Rock stars in it.)

A nice maturation. They work in the strings, bells, and keyboards befitting the "bigger sophomore album", but mix it in with subtlety. Like a bubblegum version of the British Sea Power single.

brent, respect.

but i hate these fuckers... and a lot of it had to with their stage banter too.

Ha, no sweat. At least you're not comparing them to the Eagles.

Gotta admit, I like the smart asses. I saw them with Art Brut and the billing made sense. Their split 7" was cute.
crazytwoknobs
There's a couple catchy songs, but really meh.

UselessRocker
I know they might seem like another trend-chaser Brooklyn indie-rock band and they got plenty of annoying blog love, but I like 'em. "The Great Escape" and especially "It's a Hit" are just great rock singles. The album got a bit samey after a while, but there's still potential. They're fun live. And I think they're the good kind of smartasses. They seem like decent guys with senses of humor, as opposed to smartass jerky musician types. Also, a friend of mine bumped into them and she said that Keith (the lead singer) was extremely cool. I believe she said she was shocked at how nice he was for being a good-looking guy in a band.
Sickpup
Keith is from Miami, FL.

This strikes me as a very fitting indie rock representation for Miami.

Quite surprised at the thread. Only heard a couple of songs but liked them. They sounded a lot better than the likes of Interpol/Hard Fi/Killers, on account of they actually had good melodies. Was never inclined to check out the album though.

New song "After Hours" on Jools Holland:

Gary Powell (Libertines/Dirty Pretty Things) on drums and possibly Anthony Rossomando (DPTs) on acoustic guitar. Plus some dude that I don't recognize on keyboards.

Really lovely. High hopes for the new album.

EDIT: The single is up on Kokorokokro.

Really looking forward to this album. The previous album was a surprise favorite in 2006, though I never really got into their previous indie stuff or the post-album b-sides disc. Single seems like it could get stuck in my head for days, though it's not as aggressive as the singles from the last disc. Hoping this leaks really soon because there's plenty of other stuff coming out in the next three months that I'm amped on.

Thoughts:

The first 3 songs are killer. Opener "Ghouls" almost sounds like early TV on the Radio with its fuzzed out bass and moody atmosphere. "Let's See It" should definitely be the next single. Catchy pop rock with a great riff and tons of hooks, basically the kind of song that could've fit perfectly on the previous album. "After Hours" is next and I still love it. Stereogum described it as Mister Mister meets The Strokes, and it somehow works. Great tune.

"Lethal Enforcer" is fun in the sense that it's WAS doing 80's soft rock, complete with faux-disco guitar, cheesy keyboards and everything. "Impatience" (the other song they did on Jools Holland) is pretty solid too. Not on the level of the first three songs, but the chorus is good. The FUZZ and moodiness make a comeback on "Tonight" and although I prefer "Ghouls" it's a solid song nonetheless.

They go into ballad-rock (?) territory with "Spoken For" and it works surprisingly well. Keith is so dreamy, etc, etc. "Altered Beast" kicks off with a good noisy riff, but the chorus totally loses me. Dunno. "Chick Lit" follows and that shit is overproduced to an inch of its life. Sounds like Young Love or something. The drumming in "Dinosaurs" fools me into thinking this is gonna be some American pop punk thing but it turns out to be a regular WAS rocker. Not bad. Aaand they end things with more soft-rock as "That's What Counts" brings out the saxophone (yes) and lovelorn vocals. It sort of worked on "Lethal Enforcer" but they really cross the line in this one and the whole thing sounds waaay too cheesy.

Short version: Solid album, although the last few songs are very questionnable. Check out "Ghouls", "Let's See It" and "After Hours".
Justine
Listening to it now. Their last album was so easily likeable.
Andyroo
Really loving "After Hours" as a single, but my first listen and a half of the album were pretty so-so. Really dug the last disc, so this one will get several more spins. Hopefully it makes more of an impression on me.
