I'm seeing a lot of In Rainbows and Neon Bibles below the top 20 mark. It's making me nervous.

We went with the weighted list.

so roughly how many #20s = to one #1?
Mitchell
5.

#1 = 2*#4 = 4*#15 = 5*#20 = 10*#30 = 20*#40 for albums.

You're certainly not helping by only voting for five albums.

There are a fair amount of them above the top 20 mark, as well.

Yeah, he's really slacking on his support of mediocrity.

Anyone see how the Onion A.V. Club does their point allocation? Everyone can vote for up to 15 albums and has 100 points total to allocate, but no album can get above 15 points. Personally, I'm pretty happy with this weighted tabulation Mitchell has put together, but I think it'd be an interesting idea to allow the point allocation on the SOMB to vary by person, with some type of "standard" in case some folks don't care to fuss with their points.

Again, though, I'm perfectly happy with the current system, just sayin' s'all...

To be frank, the average sombie's ability to follow rules and do math is so poor as to drive the polltaker insane.

we successfully did an alltime poll like this about 6 years ago. I tabulated the results and they were pretty similar to a previous poll without such a system.

math is my strong suit and I'm a solid swimmer.

We mentioned doing that (Pazz and Jop) method and the board's overwhelming response was no.
