I dropped the ball on Tegan and Sara "Back in your Head". This was supposed to be a top 10 single for me. But I was keeping track of "07 singles" in an iTunes playlist and that's what I worked with to compile my list. Somehow I never had that in the playlist, so it missed entirely.

they're probably better known this year for the album as a whole
While you guys are generally right on here, I think "Mistaken For Strangers" might end up doing pretty well. I wasn't the only one with it in my top 10.

Man's Needs Are Full Of Greed

The Cribs – Men’s Needs / Men’s Needs (CSS Remix)US Chart Position: n/a
UK Chart Position: #17
Pitchfork Forkcast Review: “For Brazilian electro-punk partiers, CSS are pretty plugged into the UK indie scene. Klaxons' Simon Taylor-Davis has CSS singer Lovefoxxx's name tattooed to his stomach. Lovefoxxx gets "super-duper Kelly Cooper fucking double super legal" on the 1990s' B-side "Super-Legal". And now CSS have taken the skinny ties off the Cribs' greed-conscious battle of the sexes, "Men's Needs". Given how closely CSS's mantra "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above" recalls a line from the Normal's scene-starting 1978 single "Warm Leatherette", perhaps none of this should be a surprise.
CSS's remix downplays the original's jittery new-wave guitars, refashioning the track as something Swedish pop brutes the Tough Alliance might've included on their first album. Cheesy spring-break synths and heavy bass beats make singer Ryan Jarman sounds less like Julian Casablancas and more like an earnest clubgoer straining to be heard over the electronic din. Mars and Venus probably won't ever align, but CSS's needs agree with this Cribs song better than one might expect.”

Timbaland – The Way I Are (feat. Keri Hilson & D.O.E.)US Chart Position: #3
UK Chart Position: #1
Pitchfork Forkcast Review: “Shock Value is still a pretty unfortunate album, aesthetically and pop-chart-wise (current position: #60; #59 is Starbucks' Monterrey International Pop Festival CD), and "The Way I Are" is one of its more perplexing tracks: even if you're highly attuned to the artifice that dictates the flexible "sincerity" of a pop star's first-person in-song exploits and tend to ignore the logicistical inconsistencies, hearing Tim flatly drone about how he doesn't have any money on an album where he spends the rest of his time talking about how he does, in fact, have huge fucking piles of it kind of squashes the sentiment. That, plus the beat is a bad pseudo-trance version of "Push It". At least Keri Hilson sounds good, and not just as the only person on this track that doesn't sound less melodious than Gary Numan.
Since it's the latest single from Shock Value, there's a video, which (if you view it on the official Timbaland site) is "presented by McDonald's Double Quarter Pounder." This might tangentially fit the song's "I am broke yet I still love you" theme if you act under the assumption that broke people tend to gravitate towards low-cost high-calorie fast food, or maybe under a different assumption that a post-MTV economy requires videos from modestly-successful or unsuccessful albums to be subsidized by non-music industry sponsors. Pointless Adbuster-ness aside, though, Timbaland doesn't do much to act on the conceit of the track, unless you count "the video budget gave us just enough room for some stadium lights and a fog machine; hopefully we can scout a decent warehouse basement on the cheap" as a good signifier of everyman low cash flow situations. I don't know any poor people with suits that nice, I'll say that much.
Also, there's some soccer players.”

Vampire Weekend – Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa / A-Punk / Oxford CommaUS Chart Position: n/a
UK Chart Position: n/a
Pitchfork Forkcast Review: “New York's Vampire Weekend come from a minimal guitar pop tradition that stretches from Young Marble Giants to the Whitest Boy Alive, but their approach is more matter-of-fact and less self-consciously arty while taking on new wave from a different angle. "This feels so unnatural, Peter Gabriel, too," sings Ezra Koenig on "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa", the first track from their self-titled EP. Hard to say what he's talking about with the lyric, but the track's instrumentation and bubbly beat evoke another baby boomer songwriter who spent the 80s exploring what was just starting to be called "world music." Paul Simon's Graceland (and the African pop that inspired it) is perhaps an odd touchstone for a small indie rock band releasing music on their own label, but "Cape Cod" transforms the buoyant spirit of "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" to a cheaply (but cleanly) recorded, stripped-down, no-fuss context. Musicians of Simon's generation call recordings this simple "demos," and they have a point; but something about the unassuming nature of the production works in Vampire Weekend's favor, allowing subtle pleasures like that sunny falsetto vocalese at the end and the purity of the guitar tone to shine through.”

Wilco – What LightUS Chart Position: n/a
UK Chart Position: n/a
Pitchfork Forkcast Review: Wilco have always been generous about giving away their music, and this first free track from their forthcoming album, Sky Blue Sky, not only continues that tradition, but also addresses it. "What Light" is musically as pleasant and sweet as its counseling lyrics. More sweep and feeling than hooks and melodies, the song sways back and forth on acoustic guitar and piano. Jeff Tweedy's advice is simple: "If the whole word's singing your songs/ Just remember, what was yours is everyone's from now on."

Wilco, dear lord.
Is it fair to assume that that'll be the only Timbaland single (with him as the featured artist, anyway) to place? I like the other two much, much more, but that's still a pretty great song.
And forgot about the '06/'07 contro for TSD's. Still a shame, especially since there was no way in hell that was placing last year.

Amy Winehouse – Rehab / Rehab (Remix feat. Jay-Z)US Chart Position: #9
UK Chart Position: #7
top40.about.com Review: “Alcohol has caused difficulties in the career of powerful singer Amy Winehouse, and this is where she lays out her story. According to the lyrics of "Rehab," the drinking was primarily fueled by remorse at the end of a relationship and since her dad said she was fine, rehab was not the right solution. The real-world inspiration for the song is the attempt by Winehouse's management team to get her to check in to alcohol rehabilitation. They were soon fired.
Beyond lyrical content, "Rehab" is absoutely infectious. Challenge yourself to not sing along with the "No, no, no" refrain. The early 60's style horn-fueled arrangement is instantly familiar to generations of pop music fans. "Rehab" is a slice of soulful pop to relish.
"Rehab" reached the UK top 10 in the fall of 2006 with the release of the album Back to Black. It has received loads of critical accolades including the prestigious Ivor Novello songwriting prize. In the US, the album was not released until March, 2007. Upon that release, "Rehab" was not chosen as the initial single, but a bravura performance of the song at MTV's Movie Awards along with rising radio airplay has helped drive the song toward the US pop top 10.
Pros
* Personal drama made catchy and fun
* Big, throaty vocals
* Retro early 60's pop sound
Cons
* No significant negatives here
Description
* Horn-drenched early 60's style pop arrangement
* Attitude-filled singing

UK Chart Position: n/a
kewlmuzik Review: "Silversun Pickups (SSPU) is from Los Angeles. This is a great indie rock track, it's getting some airplay actually with local tastemakers Live 105.
The singing is subdued at first, then kinda gets outta control at the end (I like). I was talking to a friend about it and we weren't sure if it was a guy or girl singing (though it's quite obvious later that it's a dude). There is actually a bassist/vocalist who's a chick. Anyway, the song is a glorious guitar joint clocking at almost 6 minutes. I kinda dig how the track just keeps going. I have no idea why this is called "Lazy Eye". I'm a bit notorious for not listening to lyrics"

Young Jeezy featuring R.Kelly - Go Getta
The overly-ignored R.Kelly single of the year. It smoked "I'm A Flirt" with its badass beat that evoked (at least for me) Wham's "Careless Whisper". I was surprised how much I loved it, considering Young Jeezy is usually the worst part of any song he appears on (Like that awesome Christina Milian single last year where he went on and on about being a deadbeat dad).
