...in the course of cruel time....Me and the wife were just watching So I Married An Axe Murderer on DVD and it got us to wondering about the pedigree of the song There She Goes. She thought of it as a Six Pence None The Richer tune. I googled the song and learned it's story. The La's first release it in '88 and it went nowhere. Rereleased it charted in the UK two years later and has since been a hit for three different acts, sold millions of copies etc.etc. Another candidate, Lust For Life released in '77, 'XRT plays it a couple of times for the next nineteen years then it appears on the Trainspotting soundtrack back in '96 and now a lot of people associate it with Carnival Cruise or is it Norwegian Cruise Lines? Whatever, basically a whole show dedicated to pop music Little Johnny Live A Lot stories like these.

Should've done a little more googling. The song was written and recorded first in the mid '80s by Jules Shear. And I think it's actually called "Here She Comes." Unless Sixpence did two songs so similar I'm confusing them.

Take it up with the Wiki homeslice. That's where I got my info.

You're right - you trusted a notriously unreliable source and I should take it up with them instead of you for posting factually incorrect info.

You've actually verified this info is incorrect or you feel that the arrogance born of internet anonymity is good enough?

Ok, I've been all over the Jules Shear website, his entry on the Rolling Stone website and I-tunes and I've yet to find any evidence that Jules Shears even COVERED the song in question...Not that the show idea was even about any specific song or artist. It was an example for a possible radio show and mores to the point it's a correct example. Anyhoo, there's a more complete bibliography for ya Professor Numbnuts...Back to the thread in question.

Wow - legendary vet boarder is insulting and abusive in response to assertion he might be wrong. Gosh, a huge, huge surprise.

I don't really know what's going on in this thread but Sixpence None The Richer covered The La's "There She Goes" in 1999. The original was written by Lee Mavers of The La's.

There's no such thing as a legend in this forum, seriously and if I came off as insulting and abusive...who gives a shit. It seems to me that it's been kinda sorta confirmed that I was right. The odd thing to me was that a minor point in a larger thesis was attacked so ferociously and needlessly and to reiterate falsely.

Legends don't exist, for real and I'm a jerk and who cares for real...fucking crap. I kinda sorta babble and make no sense and I'm always wrong and never right. Oddly enough, minor points are made and remade and built on their own merits and truths are.
