Great singer-songwriter, reminds me a little of Dylan (but then again don't all singer-songwriters remind people of Dylan)
Kind of sounds like the best campfire songs ever written.
Wish I had more to say, but this is just quality songwriting and playing.

I'm amazed w/ all the stuff that has leaked in the past 2 weeks people are actually giving this any attention. Shit is weak.

I'd be curious to know what your criteria for "not weak" is, at least when it comes to alternative folk singer-songwriter category. It's not like this is supposed to be speed metal or anything.

Can't wait for this to get a stateside release. I love this album, but can't justify dropping 30 bucks to import it.

I think "The Gardener" is the only song that i have heard that can compete with "I'm Sorry Houston," by the DBT's for song of the year.

this record is serious business for anybody that likes old-timey folk, Dylan, Anthology of American Folk Music, freak folks like Devendra, etc.

I agree to a point. Nothing overly special about simple folk music. Just solid, solid, songs. Great lyrics too.
Then again, I would almost say that none of the records I love this year (DBTs, Constantines) are overly exciting. Just great songwriting.

there is nothing simple about this... the finger picking and lyrics are solid as hell.

I understand you like all kinds of music. But it just seems you like ALL music that gets released.

And I don't think loosening up is the problem on my end. Not in the slightest. Were it a problem though, I find it hard to believe some dull, down home folksy type of album would be the cure.

I listened to the album again. Several times actually. So, yea, I posted again.

I'm curious to know when this mentality crept into the SOMB that you shouldn't post in threads if you don't like the album. Very bizarre that such a liberal collection of people are so scared of opposing views creeping into their threads. Or how as soon as it happens the boarder is declared a troll.

you are not guilty of it at all, but there are others around here who only post to rip on shit and i never understand that mentality. i'm not going to name who they are because we all know who they are, but it's as if they thrive on being negative and actually enjoy the arguing/insulting exchanges. it's just kind of drag to me.

I think there's a world of difference between posting about music you've actually listened to and not listened to. There's also a big gap between posting to troll people and actually expressing a dislike for an album, disagreeing with people and so on. I don't take it personally that Yancy hated the new Portishead (for example) it seemed a genuine response from him.

I was listening to this again on a drive through the country. "The Gardener" is a really good song.
