Soundscape
Burst - LAZARUS BIRD is in my top 3 now. I love the melodies and watery guitar tones they used on this. The melodies are tasteful as hell.

For those not recognizing the vital piece of art (yeah I said it) that is Portishead's Third: your ears are dicks.

History will vindicate me on this. Just you watch.

This is good. More people should check it out. It's called "The Week That Was" though (unless there's another new band I don't know about with a very similar name). I didn't even notice the slight miswording until I read through your post a couple times.

Couldn't find a link for it.

Not too surprising, considering there are all of 3 Fall fans on the board, and at least one of them thinks it's second-tier Fall at best wink.gif

Yep this record is excellent. Finding links for it seems to be very hard though so i'll be glad to upload it if anyone wants me to. People really need to hear this.

I've been looking at some of the lists posted here and I just freaked out when I realised there was so much stuff I loved that I almost forgot was released this year. I'll need to update my list.

I keep doing that, I'm obviously always thinking of the 1960's show That Was The Week That Was.

Listened to that earlier. I really dug the percussion element, sounded awesome.

Right now I just started this new Blitzen Trapper record as well. I think I listened to their first one maybe once, but right now the first song on Furr is blowing me away.

4/11 of a listen in and I'm going to completely agree. This is incredible. Didn't bother to listen upon release because, well, it seemed so obvious that'd it be good. Sorta also why I haven't read Ulysses yet.

Ah, I see. Yeah, that'd be it then.

Yeah, that Bonnie Prince Billy got almost no real press or love here.
Yet it is probably one of his best discs. Shame when quality music gets no play, yet we had a huge thread on MGMT.
SmashNapCrash
Another vote for how great the new Billy Prince Bonnie album is.

Stellar stuff, really some of his best work in my opinion.

Easily in my top 10.
Huckle
Okay, good. Glad to see some appreciation for Will Oldham. I didn't think anything could bump Sun Kil Moon out of the position as my favorite of the year, but this one is doing it. I mean, c'mon, who else could and would put out a song like 'So Everyone'? It's this great mixture of cynicism, sincerity and longing for acceptance and praise. And I'm not a big lyrics guy, but 'You Want That Picture' captures the inner thoughts/drama of a break-up better than anything since... I don't know, the Afghan Whigs 'My Curse' comes to mind.
C.I.
"So Everyone" is one of my favorite songs of the year.
