The Luomo record actually comes out later this month, sorry. Still, it's brilliant if you like electro stuff. The song I Can't is an instant classic to me.
Listening to the Walkmen record for the second time. When I first heard it I thought I needed to give it a couple more spins as it seemed promising and I'm really digging it now.

This year's Destroyer finally grew on me. Not as good as Rubies but an excellent album, that's for sure.
My current top list would be (no particular order) :
Aliens - Luna
Portishead - Third
Luomo - Convivial
M83 - Saturdays=Youth
Flying Lotus - Los Angeles
Walkmen - You & Me
Dead Confederate - Wrecking Ball
Caina - Temporary Antennae
Destroyer - Trouble in Dreams
Earth - The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull
Horse Feathers - House With No Home
Mercury Rev - Midnight Snowflake
Sun Kil Moon - April
Raphael Saadiq - The Way I See It
TVOTR - Dear Science
The Week That Was - s/t
Department of Eagles - In Ear Park
Lindstrom - Where You Go I Go Too
I realise there were many brilliant albums this year but I'm having a hard time ranking them. Usually there are always a few I become absolutely mad about for a few weeks, but this year i just seem to enjoy many to the same extent.
Pretty sure Sun Kil Moon/M83/Luomo will end up at the top of the list though.

I loved the first album and have been waiting for the LP to arrive before I listened to this. It's nice to see that it's placing pretty well on your list, I'm curious, how is it? And especially, how does it compare to the first? Really though, I'm hoping for a complete overhaul in sound - it'd be wonderful if this group could operate organically and really evolve. Considering the players in this (super)group, it's possible.

I'm not even sure it's really a functioning group. The stuff from this new album was taken from 2006, and I think they only had a single gig scheduled for this year.
This is really pretty similar to the first album in sound and quality. I'll really have to spend more time with it to really know how well it stands up, but so far so good. I've been moving it steadily up my list with each listen.

Anything Hagerty is automatically top-ten. His fault, not mine.
The Across Tundras is more of the same, tho it sounds quite a bit less... deliberate(?) to me, almost like demos. I like it quite a bit, and I think I owe it to these chaps to actually shell out for this (I think they put it out themselves, and I stole it). No wax though, if I recall.
...
Okay, so before making this post final and official, I checked the myspace, and it appears that they've maybe got another

It definitely will be worth a listen when it's available. Did you listen to "Cloud of Evil," the song stereogum posted? I ask because it's quite a bit different than Carey's other Blackout Beach stuff, mostly because of that pulsing beat. I would recommend everyone to listen to more Frog Eyes, but I don't think it speak very much to what Skin of Evil will sound like.

Hush Arbors
from the Ecstatic Peace site:
QUOTE
Keith Wood, along with constant foil Leon Dufficy, is Hush Arbors, and while his self-titled Ecstatic Peace! debut is not his first album by any means – he’s been at this almost ten years - it does provide the perfect introductory point to Hush Arbor’s distinctive take on psych folk. Combining the pensive songwriting of John Phillips circa Wolfking, the plaintive honesty of Neil Young, and the fishtank-gazing cacophony of Six Organs of Admittance (Wood is a frequent collaborator), Wood writes classic-sounding songs that sound readymade for AM radio, circa 1968.
These songs would play as comfortably over a scene from The Wonder Years as they would piping from a noxious chillout tent at Terrastock. There are songs here that resonate with the minor key melancholy of Bert Jansch or perhaps even Mark Kozelek, while others hint at a Wire subscriber’s Siamese Dream, all propulsive rhythms and lysergic electric guitar.
Some albums are ‘growers’ – not this one. While repeated listens reveal more and more details, as good albums should, this is also an album that commands immediate attention. Try to put it on in a crowded room – just try. You’ll have a ‘High-Fidelity-Beta-Band’ scene on your hands within two minutes.
