Full Version: Liz Phair continues to be ridiculous

I remember back when Dero SLAMMED Liz Phair for her monstrosity of a major label debut (including a song with a title that they couldn't even read on the air at the time).

For those of you who don't remember, for her part, Phair made disparaging remark after disparaging remark about Chicago as she blew down, ran to LA, and tried to become a Hollywood diva.

Well, apparently, <a href="http://www.largeheartedboy.com/blog/archive/2008/04/shorties_1437.html">it's all the fault of the big bad major label</a>. sad.gif

Gimme a break, Phair. The music, perhaps, but the attitude? Please.

Liz Phair: I missed being on an indie. I never wanted to go to a major in the first place, but Matador basically sold me to Capitol, and when they divested, I was left there. It has been a long time since I could do what I wanted. When I was on Capitol, I tried to adapt and make the best of it, but I can honestly say, for the first time in 15 years, I feel creative. I don't have to start with a mindset that thinks about how to sell the record and works backward.

hilarious

I have trouble listening to her old stuff as well now. It comes up when I have shuffle on and I just skip it. All I can think of now are Steve Albini's comments about how she was a chore to listen to and that was long before "Why Can't I" was released.

BTW if she is feeling so creative why is she playing her album from 15 years ago live? Well I guess she said herself on "Shitloads of Money."

Oh my goodness! Someone needs to pull a John Stewart and pull clips when she was trying to sell out on purpose.

Honestly I don't really care who she blames or why.

If Phair can go back to making albums as good as her first three, then I'll forgive her almost anything.

Here's hoping.
